Hollywood is known for sensational storytelling and special effects. Yet while breakout technologies are disrupting the way movies are being made, not much has changed when it comes to scripts.
From Dalton Trumbo’s bathtub-born stories to Aaron Sorkin’s witty, fast-paced dialogues, the default assumption has remained the same: anyone and everyone can learn a script by reading it.
Yet for some, reading can be an overwhelmingly challenging exercise––something director Stefan Schwartz (@stefanschwartz_ ) and actor Idris Elba (@idriselba ) know all too well.
Both dyslexic––and drawing from their personal, lived experiences––they teamed up to create a new normal with Talking Scripts (@talkingscripts ): an app that reads any film and TV script to you, making it easier to absorb the content in audio format.
Already trusted and used on the sets of ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘The Americans’ and ‘Hijack’, the app goes beyond dyslexia to support the needs of those with ADHD and vision impairments as well.
