Talking Cypher

I'm teaching a Breaking class for adults every Sunday @tanzhausnrw . You still have the chance to sign up. Only a few spots left. Our crew is getting bigger each week 😊 I would like to share some thoughts about teaching: In my opinion you cannot teach Breaking without teaching knowledge. Sharing knowledge is the most underrated aspect at workshops and classes nowadays. We should not only focus on teaching steps or technique. Cultural values and Breaking knowledge are basics that every breaker should be aware of. It is a lifestyle within a culture and you need to have a feeling for the culture in order be able to learn the steps and technique in a right way. I went to my first Jam in 1993. The first thing that I learned were cultural values through German rap songs and from my mentor. I'm very grateful that I'm able to spread knowledge in workshops or/ and my class. Each one teach one! The Jammm Vol. 2 is over and I would like to express how thankful I am. The whole weekend was a vibe. Grateful and thankful that Breaking was represented so well this weekend. It was the second Talking Cypher at The Jammm. Yesterday was important since we talked about serious topics. What means community to you? How we should create more supportive and respectful enviroments in our communities? Who is responsible to create those spaces? Etc. A first step is to talk and to create awareness in relation to these topics. So I guess that the first step was done yesterday. We should continue to talk and to take care of our people. I had the opportunity to create a solo piece as part of the Teachers Showing at tanzhaus nrw. I really enjoyed the creative process. This experience was very special because I had the opportunity to share the stage with amazing dancers from dance styles such as flamenco, tap, modern, ballett, contemporary, etc. My solo with the name "Geschichtenerzählerin" is very personal, and I dedicated it to my 16-year-old self. I don't take these opportunities for granted and am very grateful that I have been given the opportunity to work on a solo. Many thanks to my bro @deejayicec for working with me on the music. Thank you @tanzhausnrw for the opportunity. I had a blast yesterday. The Breaking Cypher Session is a community session. From the community - for the community. Thank you to all the dancers for the good vibes. I appreciate every single person who attended the session and contribute with every talk, exchange, laughter and cypher moment to our community. Thank you @miss_ladidadi for the dope Rhythm & Flow Input and that you came the long way to attend the session and to teach us your knowledge. As I mentioned yesterday. I started to dance in the streets and youthcenters. It seems sometimes unreal to dance in those beautiful studios. Unfortunately, I have received the sad news that @cyberdantas one of our Talking Cypher guests @chegaqueecerto has passed away. My deepest condolences go out to her family, friends and the Hip Hop community in Joao Pessoa (Brazil). Cyber was a writer and is a co-founder of the grafitepraiba collective, which, amongst other things, professionalizes female writers. In the Talking Cypher, she talked about her experiences with capoeira and how the Mestre pushed and motivated her to join the roda. This was a response to a statement of @isisgranda , who talked about her first cypher experiences. One of her wishes in founding the collective was to promote communication about the artform, as it had always been an important part of her family. I'm very happy that Cyber had the opportunity to tell her story in the Talking Cypher. This shows once again how important it is to talk to each other and reach out to one another. Behind every person in our scene there is a motivating and inspiring story. Let's tell these stories. Especially the stories of those who are no longer with us. Rest in Heaven, Cyber. First Breaking Cypher Session @tanzhausnrw THANK YOU! My heart is full! We had diferent crews, generations, cities etc. At the end of the day it's all about the culture, community, exchange, music, dance and respect. We are ONE! I'm doing this for more than 30 years and sometimes I miss my people from back in the days. The people that I met at practice spots, sessions, competitions etc. We have to enjoy the people and moments like yesterday. Let's enjoy the culture to the fullest!
