Dance is constantly evolving โ not only on stage, but also in digital spaces. Social media, video games, apps, and digital platforms have given rise to new forms of dance that reach millions of people worldwide. Especially on platforms like TikTok, dance trends, tutorials, and new movement vocabularies emerge that not only teach dance but also redefine it as both a social and artistic practice.
Therefore we are launching a new residency program: the Residency for Digital Dance Creators. In April, four international dance artists whose work primarily unfolds online have the opportunity to spend three weeks together researching, exchanging ideas, and developing new perspectives on digital dance. This residency explores the potential of digital dance practices โ a field that, until now, has often had to grow without institutional support. The goal is to offer artists time and space to question and further develop their practice, while critically reflecting on their interaction with their communities. I will miss you guys @carlo.dabramo@fenilyy@nealandin@rubysdances #creativeeurope
Derek Jarman captures the day: โI never saw such a union of earth, sky and sea: the clouds beneath our feet spread themselves to the water, and the clouds of the sky almost ioined them.โ
