Two weeks to go until the launch of “UNEXPECTED LESSONS – Knowledges of Body and Sound,” a series curated by @talking_objects_lab . The first part from 24–27 May features Germaine Acogny, an icon of contemporary African dance. At its core is the solo performance “Somewhere at the Beginning” by Germaine Acogny & Mikaël Serre, alongside the documentary “Germaine Acogny – The Essence of Dance” by Greta-Marie Becker. 20 Jahre: #RadialsystemFürAlle Save the Date 📅 09 – 12 09 2026 2026 werden wir 20 Jahre alt, und das möchten wir feiern! Vom 09. bis 12. September laden wir Euch zu einem langen Geburtstagswochenende ein, mit Konzerten, Performances, Workshops, Gesprächen, Installationen, gemeinsamem Essen und vielen Momenten des Zusammenseins. Zum Auftakt präsentieren das Ensemble Klang aus den Niederlanden und das Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop die Deutschlandpremiere des Konzerts „Walden“ von Heiner Goebbels. Als weiteres musikalisches Highlight spielt das mehrfach ausgezeichneten Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, das ebenfalls vor 20 Jahren gegründet wurde. Sasha Waltz & Guests zeigen eine besondere Version der Choreografie „In C“ mit einem eigens für diesen Anlass eingeladenen musikalischen Special Guest. Auf dem Deck entfaltet sich eine neue Ausstellung von Xavier Le Roy sowie ein vielfältiges Programm im ganzen Haus und rund um das Gelände zwischen Spree, Terrasse und Wiese. Den Abschluss bildet ein großer Tag der offenen Tür mit Picknick, Familienprogramm und vielen Aktivitäten für neugierige Menschen jeden Alters. We are thrilled to announce the series “UNEXPECTED LESSONS – Knowledges of Body and Sound” by @talking_objects_lab from May 2026 to February 2027 at Radialsystem. Interdisciplinary perspectives and practitioners from the African continent, the diaspora, and beyond will engage in dialogue with Berlin's dynamic dance scene. The focus is on the social and political dimensions of dance, knowledge systems in music, the body as a living archive, movement as healing, a decolonial perspective on the body and dance, and a critical examination of global dance history. Performances, talks, listening sessions, and workshops transform knowledge into experience and movement. The series opens with none other than Germaine Acogny, an icon of contemporary African dance. Gemeinsam mit den Organisator*innen von Talking Objects @talking_objects_lab , @isabelraabe_01 und @modekoerper , konnten Studierende des Seminars „Sammeln - Zurückgeben - Ausstellen“ eine radikal-subjektive Objektbetrachtung erproben. Die beiden Kuratorinnen luden die Teilnehmenden ein, jenseits akademischer Denkgrenzen mit Objekten in Berührung zu kommen, dabei die eigenen Assoziationen zu den Objekten zu reflektieren und ein selbst mitgebrachtes Objekt vorzustellen. Wir danken für die anregende Sitzung und wünschen Talking Objects alles Gute! :) - Isabel Raabe arbeitet zu kuratorischen und künstlerischen Strategien an der Schnittstelle von Kunst, Politik und Wissenschaft. In ihren Projekten interessiert sie sich besonders für dekoloniale Perspektiven und neue Narrative. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Mahret Ifeoma Kupka ist Kuratorin am Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. Darüber hinaus arbeitet sie in diversen Projekten zu Fragen von Wissensordnungen, Repräsentation und Dekolonialisierung in den Bereichen Kunst, Design und Kulturpraktiken auf dem europäischen und afrikanischen Kontinent. Das künstlerische Forschungsprojekt TALKING OBJECTS beschäftigt sich mit der Dekolonisierung von Wissen. Ein zentraler Ansatz ist die Neubetrachtung von Objekten und die Konversation mit ihnen als künstlerische Praxis. Uns interessieren Objekte als Wissensarchive und als Ausgangspunkte für polyperspektivische Erzählungen. Talking to Objects What does an object trigger? What associations does it evoke? What questions would I like to ask, and what would I like to learn about it? During #TheMuseumsLab 2025, @talking_objects_lab invited the Fellows to step into a dialogue with objects from the Kunstgewerbemuseum’s collections. Rather than observing in silence, participants were encouraged to engage, question, and converse with the objects — revealing new layers of meaning.
