A long-married couple discovers that playing their old mixtapes on a 90s boom box can transport each of them to the past. But how can they resist starting to change little things in the past that have massive consequences for their future?
A fearless reporter is the only person smart enough to find her friend’s killer in 1970s NYC…after she discovers his severed head in a perfectly formed jelly aspic.
Asher, recently dumped at the airport, and Theo, a hot airline pilot, pretend to be boyfriends in order to participate in a globe-trotting reality show. A super fun read from Chip Pons.
If you feel like going to Italy over the holidays but don't want to leave the couch, read this short story by Steven Rowley. A recently broken-hearted man travels to Venice alone and learns a little bit about independence from a stray dog. Some interesting human characters also pepper the story that packs a lot into a tiny package.
A French Canadian crime family led by a fierce matriarch, driven by social injustice and a cycle of revenge. With ghosts and lots of cigarettes. A great read, out this week from @putnambooks
One of the best book I've read in a few years...beautifully written, creepy af. A mysterious woman crosses centuries leaving a wake of innocent deaths. A friend of one of her victims attempts to track her down, traveling the world and meeting others like him who have similar stories.
She has had it...officially! Maureen Kilmer returns with a new horror dramedy that was a blast to work on. This time, an ironic mom and her suburban family go on a cross country trip and accidentally (or on purpose) run into a haunted house. I learned to never pick up souvenirs from abandoned crime scenes, you never know what spirits are lurking inside.
An action story with a lot of humor and heart, about a retired assassin running for his life and trying to solve his problems without killing anyone. Fortunately, he's got his small community of ex-killers doing their best to help him out with fighting skills and a 12-step program. @robwhart1@putnambooks
Another fantastic book from Sidney Karger, author of Best Men. Two gay dudes travel across the USA to meet their new baby. They make a road trip of it, including awkward family visits. In one of my favorite parts, they watch their niece perform in a high school production of Rent, where all the adult lyrics have been made hilariously kid friendly.
It was a treat getting to work with Signor Guncle again! I'm kinda jealous that he went to Italy and I still haven't been, but I'm still working on my duolingo.
A PI teams up with a crooked cop (the piggie) to expose the seedy underbelly of 1930s Omaha in @chris_harding_thornton 's gritty and cheeky noir. Thank you @na_son for the super fun project. Out now from @mcdbooks
Two of these three witches are total betches! I was so happy to work on @authormaureen 's next novel after Suburban Hell. This supernatural comedy follows three adult frienemies who've tried hard to avoid each other since college. That's when they played with magic and accidentally burned down their dorm. The good one among them thought she said goodbye to magic forever, but when the three meet again, the magic re-awakens and threatens the solid life she has built for herself and her family.
