Day 76 of painting almost every day. It’s been challenging and some days I fail at it, but it keeps me showing up and I do think there are valuable lessons I’m learning from the process.
1. Ideas bleed from one painting to the next and consistent painting helps formulate these ideas better.
2. Some experiments are total busts, but move on and don’t ruminate on it.
3. Our world of constant distractions is the biggest enemy to doing good work. Spending more time in silence or just music is helpful.
4. Getting into a flow is real and important, but it requires giving yourself space and time.

Painting every day, week 7. Been working on this large 30x40 Saxophone player. If anyone happens to know who he is tag him. He was playing in Washington square park this fall.
New 30x40 inch painting of my son Luke. I’m calling it “the Boundless Nature of Youth”. I’ve lost track of the days, but I’m still painting every day this year.
