Tailslide isn’t just a name. It’s a legacy 🏆
The tailslide is the maneuver @kavindu__tharaka (Podi) is known for: strategic, precise, committed in the most critical part of the wave.
That same mindset built this camp.
We don’t just surf.
We read, plan, and execute.
Welcome to Tailslide 🌊
Improve your turns 👇🏽
Good turns don’t just happen naturally. Small adjustments in technique, timing, and positioning can completely change the way you surf. Here are 7 tips:
1. Speed: Good speed starts with a strong bottom turn and proper rail engagement.
2. Timing: Good timing helps you connect cleanly with the wave and stay in control.
3. The Line: Better turns come from taking a more vertical line toward the lip.
4. Positioning: The best turns happen close to the pocket where the wave has the most power.
5. The Stance: Keeping your back foot further back gives you more control and sharper turns.
6. Body Rotation: Your shoulders and head should lead the direction of the turn.
Bonus tip ✨ Compression: Bending your knees helps create better balance, power, and flow through manoeuvres.
A few simple movements can help wake up the shoulders, loosen the hips, improve mobility, and get your body ready for faster pop ups and smoother 🏄🏽♀️ 🏄♂️
At TailSlide Surf Camp, our coaches always encourage warming up on the beach before paddling out. A good surf starts before you even touch the water 🤙🏽🌊
At Tailslide, our top-ranked international surf coaches combine in-water coaching with technical video analysis to help you understand your surfing on a deeper level.
Using a coaching app during the video analysis, we review sessions, compare clips over time and track your progress wave by wave.
Pop-up techniques, turns and wave selection, every detail matters. The goal isn’t just more waves… it’s better surfing of every wave and making the most out of your surf trip.

5 yoga drills to build paddle strength + better endurance in the water 🌊
These movements target the muscles surfers rely on most (back, shoulders, core and mobility) helping you paddle longer, recover faster and move more efficiently through the lineup.
Save this for your next pre-surf workout 🤍🧘🏼♀️
The swell just keeps delivering on the south coast of Sri Lanka. This was our Madiha break today: long walls, playful sections and that perfect mix of power and fun sunrise and sunset 🌊
Yoga at Tailslide is all about creating space in the body after time in the water. Releasing tension, building strength, improving balance, and slowing things down for a moment. Just good movement, good people, and the ocean a few steps away. 🌊
Struggling to make it past the whitewater? Watch what happens right after takeoff.
Your first turn sets up your whole wave.
Turn too soft → stuck in the foam
Strong + committed turn → back to the face and longer ride.
Same surfer. Same wave. Different outcome.
Every session at Tailslide starts with a surf-specific warm up to activate your body, improve paddling, and prevent injury. Followed by a clear introduction to the surf spot so you understand the waves, currents, and safest places to paddle out and take off; from there, we guide you to lesser-known, uncrowded spots where you can relax, catch more waves, and progress faster, giving you the knowledge and confidence to make every session count 👌🏽
