I wrote some reflections on my Newbery experience (linked in bio). It’s been wonderful and strange. It changed the way I think about writing and community. I got lost for a bit and found my way back. I am so, so grateful.

This strange, ambitious book about fire and art and friendship and the voice of trees has existed in my head and heart for so long. Writing it was such a creative challenge, and I can’t quite believe I managed to wrangle it into a book—but here it is, and I’m so proud of it.
