psol ꥟ 23.04 Featuring T3J & Trinity 12:00-14:00 AEDT Live on @area3000.radio Hour 1: @t3j____ Melbourne-based live artist Tom (T3J) delivers sophisticated, hardware-driven performances centred on melodic and hypnotic techno. Drawing inspiration from the deep, minimalist architectures of artists like Oscar Mulero and Mike Parker, his sound skillfully integrates elements of electro, leftfield, and dark ambient. Since his debut five years ago, Tom has released two significant EPs: Material Ventures (2024) and Shadow Apparitions (2025), serving as diverse explorations of techno’s intersections. Renowned for his commitment to the live medium, Tom prioritises sound design and sonic intensity over raw tempo, often utilising lower BPMs to emphasise intricate, fleeting textures and atmospheric depth. Each performance is a unique, non-repeatable event that balances rigorous preparation with real-time improvisation. By embracing the idiosyncrasies of the space, the sound system, and the energy of the crowd, Tom creates a visceral dialogue between performer and audience, ensuring no two sets are ever the same. Hour 2: @trinity_ntd Celebrating two decades at the forefront of electronic music, Sydney-based DJ and producer Trinity has cultivated a global reputation built on technical mastery and an uncompromising musical vision. Her career highlights include performing alongside Richie Hawtin at the Sydney Opera House, headlining Sydney Mardi Gras, and appearing at world-renowned institutions such as Tresor and Tomorrowland. Renowned for her versatility, Trinity’s sets seamlessly traverse deep dub-techno, acid, and peak-time sounds, while her live project, Phax Machine, explores the tougher territories of breakbeat and rave. As a producer, she has collaborated with acclaimed artists like Luke Hess and Headless Horseman, earning placement in prestigious stores such as Berlin’s Hard Wax. A partner in the Nightime Drama label, Trinity remains a pivotal figure in the underground scene, consistently sharing the booth with icons like Marcel Dettmann and Peter Van Hoesen at Sydney’s premier venues. Some ‘calm before the storm’ photos of the complete stage for Mach 1. Wanted to design something that treated the daytime as importantly as the night and could allow the sound to continue rain hail or shine. Also the sound is as much of a performer as the one(s) in the middle so we saw it necessary to give them their own structure with the same logic as the broader design. Ultimately very fun working with the various bodies involved to put something together super efficiently in terms of man power, time, and cost. Will let the rest explain itself! :))

Three parallel one-minute spectrogram prints displaying an ambient soundscape I made…. The top is perceived above ground in a natural setting. Interestingly, resembling a forest as though capturing with a slow shutter in a moving vehicle. The middle is the same but heard through water - creating a sort of low pass filtering effect. The third is the an ‘uneasier’ resample imagined in subterranean. It inverts the original sample, lowers pitch, introduces cavernous reverbs.

Let’s ‘av it, here’s the set recording… Live techno performed at Mach 1, 2026, on Yorta Yorta Country from 2330-0030 on Friday night. The set was played at 133bpm, yet it builds intensity through the hour. Find it in my bio or on SoundCloud. The time put into this one has definitely solidified a new trajectory for my sound and workflow, I hope you enjoy as much as I did. The equipment used: TR-1000 Octatrack Mk II Digitone II Virus TI2 7u 104hp Eurorack Faderfox PC4 Analog Heat FX Enjoy, T3J. Photo Credit: Luka (@spicy_aquafaba ) Lighting: Jozo (@niph.ophila )

To everyone involved… thank you! A handful of snippets of my live performance have been included here courtesy of @byakuganb Being able to finally show the community the sounds I’ve built in the shadows within a stage I co-designed was truly a culmination of my two passions and has been something I’ve wanted to do in any capacity for years. So thank you @_.mach1._ for trusting me in both departments. Lastly, shout out to all the artists and friends who made amazing spaces, pieces, installations and brought awesome energy. It was great to explore all the paths and nooks all over the site. Time to chill out.

In case you missed it… here’s some sound design work from yours truly for the video of Rush Drayton’s sculpture ‘Chrysalis Machine’ (2025). Go check out his page for the full write up as well as credits and schematics. @rushdrayton Made using a mixture of the SY0.5 for the sub bass, Modbase 09 MkII for the kicks, VHIKK X for drones and big cinematic sweeps, SM-1 for all the rippling alien FM textures along with processed vocal references to fitting classics such as Alien.

Just over a month from now I will be periodically responsible for the 1234.8 km/h sound waves being emitted at @_.mach1._ The work that goes into these things is immense (to put it softly), that said, I highly encourage you to turn your gaze away from festivals that amass five digit crowds that zap half your time looking for people. There are moments in music where culture and community is formed and to be there while it is makes it all worth while. It is an intimate festival where everyone you could need to see will be front and center. I’m delighted to demonstrate my creative pursuits both sonically and through design. I, along with everyone who’s involved, would love to share the the collective efforts with as many as you as possible. There is so much that hasn’t been revealed yet… T3J

Tomorrow night @ 2am For those who know… surprise. Got over an hours worth of stuff on it now. And go watch the movie sirat if you like the twisted warpy synth that’s front and center in this video, it’s inspired by the @kangding_ray track that they re-recorded with a microphone through speakers to make it more like it’s being listened to in a curated space. #tr1000
