As you maybe already know but 2024 I really stepped back from markets and really sharing my work face to face. I dug into my teaching practice and took my time creating safe, fun environments. Just a shift in focus in creativity. This allowed me time to focus inward on making work for myself again. It’s hard being an artist in the age of capitalism.. as maybe of you know first hand. But taking that much needed time away has led me to a new kind of fire in my practice. Just a reminder to s l o w down, sometimes it’s the most sustainable thing to do.
In 2024 I had the absolute privilege of doing not one but FOUR teaching residencies at my very favorite place @souwester . Why I don’t move there.. beats me. This year really shined light on how much my introverted self feels so fulfilled by creating these kinds of environments. Witnessing folks break out of their comfort zone, tapping into a creative zone they forgot or didn’t know they had.
So fast forward to fall time - life was taking lots of twists and turns and I was like what a perfect time to take a leap. Thus I created Hemlock Market. Which was born out of a pivot and has turned into something more wonderful than I could have imagined. There was something in the air that day. If you attended or shared I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Here is all to say that it wasn’t just a one off and there will be more Hemlock Markets coming in 2025! Follow over @hemlockmarket for all the upcoming details.
Thanks for being here! Lots of love! Happy New Year!
Trying my best to start recording some process videos again. Always fun seeing the making of and the end product. Stay tuned to see how I glaze her. (lol at my concentration face)
Sometimes the best parts are the small details. This one from my poem series is still available. The spiral feels like a imprinted little secret. A personal favorite from the collection.
