🎂 Happy 12th birthday Daybreaker familia — As we step into our 12th year together, our hearts are overflowing. What began as a wild, mischievous idea — what if we woke up and danced instead of numbing ourselves to belong? — has become a global movement, a cultural frequency, a home for hundreds of thousands of souls searching for joy, connection, and aliveness. Twelve years. Twelve years of 5 AM alarms, disco balls in backpacks, finding power outlets behind ancient ruins, negotiating with janitors, convincing DJs to play sober at sunrise, crying in bathroom stalls from exhaustion, and then re-emerging moments later because someone grabbed our hand and said, “Daybreaker saved my life.” As we stand at the threshold of our 13th year — our teenager year! — we want to say from the bottom of our heart: Thank you. Thank you for giving your mornings, your sweat, your laughter, your costumes, your courage. Thank you for co-architecting a world where we wake up, not escape. Thank you for choosing belonging in a time where loneliness has become an epidemic. Thank you for helping us bring a dream into form — a dream that has grown beyond anything we could have imagined. The next era of Daybreaker will be our boldest yet. We are architecting Day Life. We are building the culture of belonging the world is aching for.  And we are just. getting. started. What a privilege it is to steward this community with and for you.  We did this with no investors — a movement fueled by you, for you. A deep bow to our partners and sponsors who make this all possible - without you, we wouldn’t have wings. Fell in love in the Arctic, with 170 friends, where time stood still, where we were all cracked open, over 10 days and as many lifetimes, all moved beyond words — this final curtain call for Wow It’s Now, the most moving yet, thank you for this experiment in culture making, environmental education, fundraising, deep nature exploration, an art project to inspire, thank you for the trust these past 2 years, from each end of this earth, Antarctica to the Arctic, I am, we are, forever changed. Leaders of the Sámi tribe indigenous to this region hosted us, after a first meeting in Brooklyn, on the heels of a visit to the UN, @beaskaniillas made this possible with his welcome, and the welcome of @saramariellegaup and @elisaborealis — thank you. lynnetwist and @sara.vetter , @manariushigua and @belenkeuneka came to represent the Amazon, collectively representing 100+ years of work in service of the Amazon with @pachamamaorg , and together hosted our biggest fundraiser yet for Pachamama, @belongcenter , and the Sámi Council. Work we love, work for love. They have showed me the meaning of service, thank you. So grateful for this team, 20+ of us onboard to see this through as gracefully as possible. Thank you, thank you 💚

One year ago this week! Scenes from Wow It’s Now on the Nile River, a Daybreaker art project and social experiment, a capsule of work for us that we’re closing with a last expedition to the Arctic this summer. Friends fell in love, started businesses, started families, we brought DJs on board we met while dancing in Cairo clubs, raised hundreds of thousands for orgs along the Nile and inaugural funding for Belong Center, picked out every pillow and lantern from Cairo markets and shipped them to our SoHo summer club to bring home some of the magic. ✨ These have been the greatest art projects, most moving, most sleepless, most deep, most bonding… and always on to the next! @love.radha , @eliclarkdavis , our @dybrkr team, hosts, all the friends that have said yes, thank you for dreaming big, for rolling the dice together, excited for what’s next :)

Wow. A look back on ten glorious years of sunrise dance, love & mischief. Thank you @dybrkr fam, artist community, partner community and everyone in between that continue to make this sunrise movement thrive. This is just the beginning! Lezzgo!! Our togetherness in this next decade will determine our future as a species. And we’ll keep saying it: dance has always been humanity’s most potent celebratory gathering and healing technology. Let’s keep investing in collective dance and effervescence and make this wild blink of an eye called life even more magic! My parents in ‘79 - ‘81, in love for a decade before I was born, photos I’ve never seen, dug out of basement albums after mom sold her 40 year DC home last month. God bless parents, god knows I tested mine. Thank you for your patience, sorry to scare you all those times mom. ❤️

Grateful for my breath. Grateful I love to swim. Taking the plunge this season. Going into holidays without a few loved ones — this time makes loss so poignant. “The world produces waves. Surf or drown. You decide.” V. Abloh Surf is rough right now, but still getting up most waves. Pisces through and through, I respect the ocean, she is fucking powerful, has pummeled me enough times lately to know. Breath, swim, ride; often tough but rarely a fight.
