Return from the slump.
I cannot stress enough how much fun and joy these drawings bring me lately. I feel like I am getting really really back into the enjoying drawing mindset and that just feels pretty good. :) no. Really really pretty good.
So I guess that it just proofs again that it's ok to feel down every once in a while and to not stress about constant creating and improvement and all that stuff we burden ourselves with sometimes.
You can find the initial gesture drawing in the last slide. Probably was a 2 minute pose..and the second pass maybe took up to an hour or two. ☺️
Thinking more and more bout making a small art book with gesture drawings and second passes. Maybe with small tutorials and thoughts as well. Working title: drawn to gesture
Stay tuned

I applied for the @charac.tor scholarship with @creativetalentnetwork and can happily announce that I am one of the lucky Partial Pro Scholarship awardees. 😊Gratulations to all the other awardees as well and I can't wait to see some of you during the zoom sessions that are going to happen in the future.
Thanks to CTN for bringing all that talent together and a big thanks to Thorsten of course. Hope you had a blast going through all those application tests :D

I've finally made it! I am famous!!
So, in late 2024 my favorite magazine for all things character design related - "Character Design Quarterly" - reached out to me and asked if I wanted to create a tutorial on how to create a group of fearless D&D adventurers.
Needless to say I agreed without hesitation (OK, after a little dance of celebration :).
Now it's finally out. A 20 pages feature with insights, thoughtprocess, loads of drawings and evena little squirrel companion made it into the tutorial. :)
I admit that I am quite proud and feel honored to be in a magazine I've been reading for years and from which I have taken so much inspiration.
So, a HUGE "thank you" goes out to @3dtotal for this opportunity and all the fun I had creating this wonderful tutorial. I really hope you folks like it. And now go and grab your copy of issue no 35 of Character Design Quarterly.
I'll put a linkt into the bio.

Drawn to Gesture Bits of Wisdom:
"Having fun is mandatory.
That might be a pretty obvious nugget of wisdom and not worth the mention, but mention I want it never the less.
Being an artist means a lot of pressure sometime. Between the urge to practice, getting better, creating awesome art and making a living it can be a lot to juggle so I think it’s important to remind ourselves what got us started in the first place: The fun of drawing, of creating characters, of telling stories or just feeling a pencil scratching on paper. Whatever gets you back to that mood, do that as often as you want or need to.
For me, drawing this wonky second passes is one way to reach that state.
I just love drawing those and putting them on a spread to create these nice pages with a character in different poses and situation.
Aren’t they just super cool to look at?"

Drawn to Gesture Bits of Wisdom No 3
When it comes to drawing, you never quite know where it might lead and what it has to offer.
So, at this particular drawing day only one person showed up. So we had that funny Secret Agent set for the first time, and we both weren’t quite sure how serious the poses were going to be. The model did such an amazing job but all the poses had that ridiculous comedy vibe that we both laughed our asses off pretty much the whole session because every pose was more ridiculous than the one before.
Man did I love that one. It reminded me how much fun drawing can be.
So take out a pencil and draw away, because you never know what awaits :)
Ah by the way. I still have a few copies of the magazine, so if you want to grab your copy, just reach out. Or have a full digital read by following the link in my bio :)
cheers.

Drawn to Gesture Bits of Wisdom
My favorit benefit of regular drawing sessions (besides the obvious practice) ? Having drawings lying around, waiting for me to pick them up. So whenever an art
block hits, or when I want to draw something but I don’t know what or I am too exhausted to think about what to draw, I scroll through my gesture session and start a second pass on a pose I like. And that's always a goo start.
Try it out!

Sending some magazines on their way to new homes. I really enjoy that process of wrapping and packing and getting those things ready for their journey. It really is a soothing and somewhat meditative process. So if you still want a copy, now is probably the time :)

The moment you all or a few have been waiting for:
The printed version of my Drawn to Gesture Magazine has arrived. Sadly there has been some trouble with the PDF and the printer so now there are some "weird frames" around some images. SUPER BUMMER!!😭 (See Slide 3,4)
Now I have 50 of those and I am not going to throw em away. The Printer agreed to give me a discount, which is fair enough and I am going to pass that discount on to you, my dear customers.
So instead of 16 EUR, the magazine is going to cost 12 EUR + shipping. The PDF is still for free so these print edition is really for those, still loving printed stuff :) (what makes it extra sad, that there is this mistake in it :D)
But If you still want to buy one, just send me a dm with your adress and I'll let you know how much it will be. There is a slide with shipping costs that should be more or less accurate.
A lot of work went in to this one, and I hope you'll like it.
Thanks <3
Most folks don't know this...
... But my yearly christmas card I showed you last week started the very first year as an Advent Calendar for my beloved @motlok
That means behind the image are 24 little images to be opened day by day.
Last year I made small photo studies from the passed year, so behind each door waited a tiny snippet of my life from 2025.
That's Actually pretty cool, when you think about it. Ain't it?
And one year i drew all the Baldur's Gate 3 characters because we were pretty addicted to the game that year. :D :D
So that's probably the most personal advent calender you can get (actually you can't) Cause there is only one :D

Hold to find your spirit szerk 😂
Saw that and had to try it. I think it's actually pretty funny, especially if you get those that aren't actually real szerklings 😂😂😂

The most fun creating these yearly christmas cards for friends, family and clients is coming up and adding all those tiny details in the background.
These are always heavily inspired by our office room and experiences we had throughout the year. So whenever I go back to those cards I can figure out what was going on that particular year, which projects had been dominant and where we went to holidays. :D
So these cards are basically a visual journal of my last year, and that's what I love about them.

Looking through my folders I realized that I didn't have the greatest amount of pictures to chose from for this 2025 recap. Which feel s a bit weird to be completely honest, because I felt like constantly working :D
But there are some nice pieces, projects and characters I was very happy and greatful to work on last year. I had a few things way out of my comfort zone. Some things way up my ally. I've created a little gesture drawing magazine I am pretty pretty proud of. I was part of an insane little film production. I started a pixel game with some of my D&D buddies (which is hard on hold right now). And I had my very firs bike tour with a very good friend of mine.
So overall I would say it was kind of a good year for me. Not regarding the fact that the whole world seems to be going to shit while Terminator is slowly becoming reality :D. But let's just forget about that for now :D
Have a great year everyone, keep on doing what makes you happy and just take a moment every now and then to breath and remember.
Cheers.
