In January 2025, I had the chance to interview composer and synthesist Todd Barton at the Buchla and Friends event in Los Angeles. It was a pleasure to speak with him about brainwave music, the Krell patch, Ursula K. Le Guin, and the life cycle of a sound.

Our scryers have consulted the Void and it has indicated thusly:
i. 'Liber Enya: A Very Rainy Devotional' shall be released on the 16th day of the second month of the year two thousand and twenty six.
ii. The names of the artists devoting themselves to the munificent Enya shall be released incrementally, reflecting the iterative nature of human knowledge, pitiful as it is.
iii. Further details of the release shall be subject to approval of the Office of Abyssal Relations and Media Engagement.
We submitted our release strategy to them but they are notoriously inefficient and often object to our idiosyncratic approach to punctuation, so it is likely to be some days before other details are confirmed.

Crap! Was up all night with a coughing fit and either a cold or flu has moved into my chest. We're discussing the origins of the Krell patch, it's influence from the 1950s Forbidden Planet soundtrack, how to patch a basic Krell and how to expand it.
It's a classic patch for modular synths and one for those into ambient and generative patching.
