Have you met our 2026 Artists-In-Residence yet? Please meet Amina Ross, Daniel Shinbaum, Jonah Senzel and Sonora! Swipe (or scroll down) to read more about them and what they will be doing this year.  👉

Our residents work as a collective to improve the library plus steward an individual project of their choosing.  Our next resident event is hosted by @sonoramarrr on May 14, as the second edition of her Open Synth Table project. Video captures are from Sonora’s last Open Table at @hexh0use . RSVP for May 14 is in our bio :). Our Artists-in-Residence are selected through a community review process from a pool of outstanding SLNYC member applicants, showcasing a diverse range of talent and innovative ideas.  Thank you again to all of those who took the time to apply.  Applications for the 2027 residence will be expected to open in Fall 2026. — Amina Ross is a Brooklyn-based artist, filmmaker, and educator whose interdisciplinary practice spans video, sound, sculpture, installation, and collective inquiry. During their SynthLibrary NYC residency, Amina will develop a workshop series that combines collective reading of liberation-oriented texts with synth-based sound baths to support embodied understanding. @aminaontheinternet Daniel Shinbaum (he/they) is a mediologist with a research focus on communication technologies and a builder of DIY modular electronic instruments. Jonah Senzel (he/him) is the designer of experimental at-cost Eurorack modules and composes music for indie games. In their collaborative residency project, Daniel and Jonah will lead a series of beginner-friendly, hands-on workshops where participants can learn about modular synthesis and solder their own DIY Eurorack modules. @aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.a.a @jewkulele Sonora is a Brooklyn based multidisciplinary artist from Bogotá, Colombia. For her residency project, Sonora will work with a collaborative improvisation practice developed through La Balsa Eléctrica, an art collective and methodology she co-founded in Bogotá, to lower barriers to electronic music and experimentation. @sonoramarrr

We are proud to announce that we have received a 2025 Creative Equations Fund award from Brooklyn Arts Council!  We feel so honored that BAC recognizes our contribution to the arts landscape in Brooklyn and are grateful for their support to launch our residency program and bring on over 200 new members this year!    Thank you @bkartscouncil for your leadership and to @powrplnt , our amazing non-profit partner, for your support to administer the grant funds.   Pictured here are photos from our latest event - a community used-gear trade/sell event that brought together over 200 folks to our East Williamsburg home at @hexh0use in an effort to support affordable gear ownership.  The event was also a pop-up marketplace for artists to sell their albums, zines and other creative products and generally mingle and meet.  What a great thing it is to build community IRL - we hope to do more of these. Thanks to all who volunteered, showed up, and made it a great day for all.  *Music by @djharam - a Synth Library NYC member!   — More info about the BAC Creative Equations Fund: This year, Brooklyn Arts Council is distributing $1.82million to help support 378 Brooklyn creatives and cultural organizations through their grant and arts education programs.
