The book appears as a result of a sentimental journey by the process of looking through dreaming landscapes, full of emotions, belonging both to the buildings and faces trapped inside each other. Where the landscape is something nearest to the infinitely distant, and a Dream seems so fragile that you sometimes abandon it in your sleep. We are proud to announce that our debut book ‘District’ has been shortlisted for the 2025 ARLES BOOK AWARDS by @rencontresarles Created at the festival’s founding, the Rencontres d’Arles Book Awards support each year, with renewed fervor, the extraordinary creativity of photographic publishing, and strive to be one of the major actors for its wide dissemination. The winner will be announced during the night at the Théâtre Antique, on Tuesday, July 8. The books will be displayed throughout the festival, in a venue dedicated to the various Rencontres publishing awards, at La Mécanique Générale. Together with our debut District book, we took part in the Kyiv Art Book Fair 2025 (@kyiv_art_book_fair ). The first-ever Kyiv Art Book Fair turned out to be the first one for Syntax as well. These three days became an excellent starting point for our small publishing team. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who came and supported Syntax Publishing and the fair. Презентація фотокниги District в Збірці! District — дебютна фотокнига нового видавництва Syntax, що ексклюзивно предтавлене в Збірці. Основною темою фотографічного дослідження є зображення району. Більшості з нас відомий цей вайб спального району з похмурою недобудовою, безликими багатоповерхівками та меланхолійною сірістю. Але всі ми знаємо, що навіть серед бетонної реальності є місце мріям, світлу та добру. Автори досліджують себе через навколишнє середовище — книга складається з двох частин: серії фотографій District Владислава Андрієвського та ессея Ольги Павленко «Принц власної звички». На презентації познайомимось з авторами та засновниками видавництва, дізнаємось про деталі створення фотокниги та подальші плани видавництва. District is a debut book, published by Syntax. It consists of two parts: a visual series of photographs by Vladyslav Andrievsky titled District and a textual part in the form of an essay by Olha Pavlenko, Prince of his own pattern.   As the author explains, photographic research focuses on a big city’s outskirts, where dark, gray, and concrete reality exists to express the mind and soul. The main interest is focused on the phenomenon of dreaming that lives between these faceless surroundings wrapped in depressing, gloomy, and dull environments versus the young generation with bright minds and pure hearts. The story is about the tension between the outskirts and young people growing up in the Internet reality. The environment is a kind of everyday life battlefield searching for a dream. And a dream is the only thing that can provide faith and hope. Meanwhile, an essay by Olha Pavlenko, Prince of his own pattern, adds a lyrical hero to the book, revealing the essence of his persona and reflecting on the line between unbearable lightness and absolute heaviness, which is where the main lyricism of the character is hidden.
