What I learned today was domestic violence isn’t something that occurs everyday at home, it happens in cycles. A series of emotional moments that leave victims confused and one of the many reasons why they stay longer than they should. I leaned that TODAY. It took me a LONG time, about 10 years to realize and recognize that I was in an abusive relationship with a careless man. I got out of it not physically scarred, but the emotional and mental scars were definitely there. It became a foundation of my triggers in relationships after. You think in the moment what’s happening isn’t actually abuse. It’s just DRAMA until it comes to a real head. That, fighting is normal. No TF it’s not. Hearing the stories of other survivors today brought tears to my eyes. What also moved me was the way Mr. George Roberts loves his wife Dr. Shanda Roberts within and throughout her healing from abuse by a reckless man. That love is imprinted on my heart and I look forward to the day someone can do that for me. Thank you @phiwife and @pain2purpose76 for welcoming me into your community and choosing my song “Warrior” as your anthem.

I had the honor of performing with my friend renown concert pianist @elainekwon as she creative directed a beautiful evening for @onemindorg Apollo & Psyche. Thank you Kathy Pike for hosting an incredible event. It was great to be back in New York sharing the stage with Elaine & @danweinerdrums , and hear legend @desmond.child & experience my friend @tamar.greene
IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!! I’ve waited my whole life to be this age. 40! Everything about me since I was a kid acted 40. Just AUNTIE. And now I gotta auntie booty to match! I’m so grateful to the past selves of me who did all the things and learned all the lessons and dove deep into the ick parts. I am IN LOVE with my ENTIRE TRIBE!! My friends are ELECTRIFYING BEINGS whom are reflections of every version of me. I love you because I love me. I believe in you because I believe in me. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings.
