SYDDEVIL is an undeniable force in the South African techno scene. Based in Johannesburg, February 2024 marked the start of a unique journey through electronic, house and techno sounds. In April 2025, she became an UNDERGROUND AFRICA resident, and has since supported acclaimed artists, both local and international. At just 20 years old, SYDDEVIL has performed in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria, and has supported the JHB lineup for Jeff Mills on his 30 year Liquid Room Anniversary tour. hiiiiiii 😙 so tomorrow I have the absolute honour of closing for Jeff mills with @avi_subban_ … pinch me!!!! a huge, huge thank you to @undergroundafrica @ctemf for having me! I am so excited to be able to witness, experience and support a source of inspiration for so, so many people across decades and continents. To me, Jeff Mills & this 30 year anniversary are a striking reminder of how far we have come and how far we can still go. He shows the power of being uncompromising, being imaginative and EXCITED! Having integrity, values and morals, being willing to create what you wish to see, and not settling for less. Unreservedly, he is skilled, innovative and creative to a T, but what really strikes me is his presence of mind and approach to music & creativity overall. On a personal level, while I don’t centralise it, being black, female, and queer, and playing techno, an extremely male-dominated genre? It’s not the easiest experience, to say the least. But supporting someone of this calibre, who didn’t and hasn’t allowed imposed narratives and agendas to limit his creative expression is an unbelievable, irreplaceable gift. I am so grateful to be alongside talented and respected local artists who I have been looking up to for years, provided an opportunity I could have never imagined. Even more-so, I’m extremely, immensely grateful to everyone who has made this dream possible. Music is my soul, my passion, my everything. I wouldn’t be here without you, so thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!🥺🥹🥹🥹 Make sure to get enough rest, eat a nutritious meal and do a warm up stretch. It’s that deep!! Can’t wait to dance the night away and celebrate the music we love so deeply — arrive early, stay late!!!!!! 🥹🖤

this weekend I’m making my Cpt debut with @vaultcapetown at @modular_cape_town 🥹 An extended 3hr opening is going to be such a treat!! Over the past two years I’ve been extremely lucky to play so many different events, some stuff I buy and never end up playing again. I’m really excited to be in a new space, a different POV, repping the @undergroundafrica and trying some new stuff :) Then!!! JEFF MILLS!!! 😳 this warrants its own post, there is so much to say!! But right now, I am so honoured and humbled and still in shock from the responsibility I’ve been given, and closing duties on top of that with @avi_subban_ . I know this is going to be a beautiful night, because the heart of the scene is beating and it is felt. I’m really looking forward to the reminder, for all of us, that we are part of a bigger picture, and it does mean something. This is seriously the best graduation and 21st birthday gift I could ask for (yes it is March… but what could top this???) thanks to everyone who supports me 🤍🤍 it means the world!!!
