A little bit about me:
I’ve spent over 20 years helping innovators, leaders, and community builders clarify their vision and design strategies that move goals forward. As a creative problem solver, I’ve partnered with CEOs, nonprofits, government agencies, and creatives through brand storytelling, strategic marketing, and design—shaping cohesive narratives that connect people, companies, and ideas.
Beyond consulting, I’m deeply committed to arts, education, and community. I serve as President of the Board of the School of Arts + Enterprise, formally on the Pomona Cultural Arts Commission for nine years, and on boards including Fairplex (LACFA), Urban Rising LA, the Latino/Latina Roundtable, the Downtown Pomona District (PBID), and formally NAMI Pomona Valley. I also co-chaired the LA County Fair Equity Committee and have long supported Pomona schools and youth mentorship.
I’ve had the privilege of nurturing artists and culture through galleries, art walks, and panels with the National Endowment for the Arts, Fairplex, and the Millard Sheets Arts Center. Together with my wife, Chara, and our two children, Harvey and Jackson, I’m dedicated to fostering creativity, innovation, and community impact.
NOTE: The digital hand drawing is something I did during a zoom meeting during the pandemic.
Found out Bill Withers passed. He was one of my favorite song writers and singers. I still remember the first time I heard most of his songs. Each one has a good memory. This one I sang to the kids whenever @lovecharanicole has to leave for a meeting. Thank you #BillWithers for the soundtrack to some amazing parts of my life.
I’ve known Victor Preciado for over a decade, and during that time I’ve had the privilege of working alongside him in the Pomona community. I’ve seen not just what happens in public meetings or campaigns, but the everyday work he does behind the scenes that often goes unseen, unrecognized, and unphotographed.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, we realized many families in Pomona didn’t have transportation to access the drive-thru food banks happening across the region. Instead of just talking about the problem, Victor helped make something happen. Building off the incredible work of God’s Pantry, we launched a direct food delivery effort that continued for four years.
That first year, we delivered food to around 700 families every week. Over the next three years, we continued serving more than 400 families weekly. With the help of about 60 volunteers, that effort resulted in nearly 100,000 family deliveries across our community.
That’s who Victor is. He sees a need, and he gets to work. It’s the same reason he signed up to coach freshman football at Garey. Not for recognition, but because he wanted to be part of strengthening the village around our young people.
Victor also believed Pomona needed more spaces for health, family, and community. That vision helped lead to 10 annual Pomona 5K and 10K events, and this Memorial Day we’ll host the first Thummer 5K at the LA County Fair.
These races have helped fund youth programming across Pomona. Last year alone, we raised $20,000, while also supporting the Pomona Compassion Fund and helping build the new Community Garden at Gibbs and Center.
While Victor has served District 2, I’ve watched him show up for people across the entire city. He’s also become a real friend and has supported projects my wife and I have built, including the Pomona Children’s Festival and the Pomona4As Alliance Cultural Center.
Don’t get distracted by politics. Look at the work. Look at the consistency. Look at how someone shows up when nobody’s watching.
If you live in Pomona District 2, vote Victor Preciado for City Council.
Popped into the new @instituteoflatinoart and met Votan Henriquez (Maya/Nahua) and Leah "Povi" Marie Lewis (Laguna/Taos/Zuni/Hopi/Diné) from @nsrgnts (some of my favorite current indigenous artists). Votan shared stories about indigenous resistance and revolt and his heart for teaching the culture to next generations. Grateful to be in the space and grateful to ILA.
Enjoyed a beautiful day at the Cheech in Riverside. Loved seeing so many artists we've met and worked with over the years in Cheech Marin's private collection. Stories of community, resiliance, and beauty. Grateful.
Roots of Resistance Pilgrimage, hosted by the @latinolatinaroundtable.sgpv this morning, was a beautiful escape of the reliance of our community. We walked from Pomona Valley Pride Center in Downtown Pomona to Tony Cerda Park in collaboration the PowWow "Big Time Gathering" hosted by @costanoanrumsencarmeltribe
There's a special kind of magic in a neighborhood that only reveals its secrets to those who live there. For Jackson, Downtown Pomona is more than just a place - it's a community. Seeing him and his friends skateboard after school, grab snacks at the Shop, matcha at Canani, or patties at Hilltop Jamaican, fills me with gratitude. This community was built on purpose, and it's amazing to watch him grow up here. Neighbors, shop owners, and artists all play a role in keeping an eye out while giving him room to spread his wings. I'm so grateful for this community.
I'm loving these throwback photos of him when he was much younger in Downtown Pomona.
Grateful for 24 years of marriage with this this incredible woman. While life is very different than the earlier days of dating and building a new friendship, I am grateful for each phase of this journey that has led us here today. It didn't come without some pain and struggle, but I still get butterflies. 24 years down, forever to go. Love you Chara! You're my best friend, my partner in building community and family, and the beautiful human I get to wake up to each day.
