As part of our commitment to strengthening #foodsystems and advancing #foodsecurity in Northeast Nigeria, Ambassador Patrick Egloff visited FAO-supported livelihood intervention sites in Jere LGA, Borno State, to gain first-hand insight into ongoing efforts and impact.
Funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Aquaculture Centre and the Fish Processing/#TomBrown Production Centre in Old Maiduguri demonstrate how resilient food systems can be built through integrated value and supply chains. During the visit, our Ambassador engaged directly with beneficiaries across the aquaculture and fish value chains.
The visit further reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting sustainable, community-based #foodsecurity and #livelihood solutions for conflict-affected households and communities in Northeast Nigeria.

We were pleased to welcome Ambassador Patrick Egloff to The Kukah Centre (TKC) for a strategic engagement focused on advancing peacebuilding and strengthening electoral processes in the country. The meeting created an opportunity for meaningful dialogue on how to sustain and improve efforts that support credible and peaceful elections in Nigeria.
Central to the discussion was the role of the NPC's Election Security Information Hub in providing reliable, data-driven insights to the National Peace Committee. By tracking trends such as electoral violence, misinformation, vote trading, and institutional risks, the Hub continues to support informed decision-making and proactive responses to emerging challenges within Nigeria’s electoral landscape. These insights are critical in guiding timely and evidence-based decisions that promote peaceful and credible elections.
The conversation also reinforced the importance of partnerships as an agreement was signed by Ambassador Patrick Egloff on behalf of Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA of Switzerland, and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah for The Kukah Centre (TKC) as the secretariat of the National Peace Committee.
Support from International Partners such as the Embassy of Switzerland in Nigeria has been instrumental in advancing this work. As Nigeria prepares for upcoming elections; collaboration, accountability, and evidence-based approaches will be key to strengthening public trust and promoting democratic stability.

🇨🇭🇳🇬 Strengthening the Pillars of Democracy:
On Monday, Ambassador Patrick Egloff was honoured to host a high-level exchange between two distinguished delegations at the Embassy in Abuja.
Swiss MP Marc Jost led a delegation from the First Step Forum - a global coalition of parliamentarians and leaders dedicated to advancing religious freedom, human rights, and peace. We were privileged to welcome former Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger and Austrian MP Gudrun Kugler as part of this mission. The delegation met with the Swiss-Nigeria Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Nigerian House of Representatives, led by its Chairman, Hon. Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei. 🏛️🤝 While the dialogue centered on international religious freedom, the discussions also explored broader collaboration amongst parliamentarians across several key thematic areas. 🌍
