Das Eidgenössische Departement für auswärtige Angelegenheiten (EDA) ist für die Gestaltung und Umsetzung der #Aussenpolitik der #Schweiz zuständig. Es vertritt die Interessen des Landes im Ausland und setzt sich für #Frieden, #Sicherheit, #Menschenrechte und nachhaltige #Entwicklung ein.
Über sein Aussennetzwerk vertritt das EDA die 🇨🇭 in bilateralen und multilateralen #Beziehungen, unterstützt die internationale Zusammenarbeit und gewährleistet die aktive Präsenz der Schweiz in internationalen Organisationen.
Es schützt zudem Schweizer Bürgerinnen und Bürger im Ausland, insbesondere in Krisenzeiten, erbringt konsularische Dienstleistungen und stellt aktuelle Reisehinweise zur Verfügung, um die Sicherheit der Reisenden zu gewährleisten.
Schliesslich fördert das EDA das Ansehen und die Werte der Schweiz weltweit und spiegelt damit ein global engagiertes Land wider, das sich für Rechtsstaatlichkeit, Dialog und Solidarität einsetzt.

In 2000 Switzerland opened its cooperation office in Chisinau.
42 Swiss citizens were living in Republic of Moldova in 2025.
Switzerland has been active in Moldova since 2000. The Swiss cooperation programme focuses on three areas: governance and social cohesion, economic development and resilience, and health and local public services.
Since 2022, Moldova has welcomed hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees and has faced significant economic, social, and energy-related pressures. Even today, around 140,000 Ukrainian refugees still live in the country, representing approximately 5% of Moldova’s population.
