Using the abstraction of the most impersonated person on the planet through the lens of the Egyptian Memphite afterlife system of iconization. A belief system where replication and veneration of a person's image in the land of the living ensured their continued existence in the afterlife: proto-celebrity culture. It explores the veneration of problematic men, toxic masculinity, romantic delusions, cultural appropriation, nostalgic infantilism and primordial loneliness. Recorded over several years across multiple locations including the Memphis Necropolis in Egypt, Porthcawl Elvis Festival, Glasgow Prestwick Airport, the British Museum and the Direct From Graceland Exhibition with additional audio recorded in the Red Pyramid. Incorporating technologies now prohibited for future use by the ELVIS AI Act and fully transcribed into Old Kingdom hieroglyphs. IMPERSON is the first in a series of retrocursive concept albums, performances and longform music videos reappropriating the saturation of legacy media. The work is a performance, an album and an occult treatise: a fever dream of past and future - the digital afterlife of pop culture. They are coming back baby.
