10 years ago today, I started SVNSET WAVES... There’s no way that 17-year-old me knew the impact starting some little online blog would make on my life over the next decade. A venture that would lead to some of the best moments of my life, the best music I’ve ever heard, and some of the best friends I’ve ever made.
First and foremost, I want to thank each and every single artist I’ve had the honor of working with (wish i could tag you all but there’s over 600 of you now). Truly, you are the reason I do this. It’s been a beautiful thing over time to watch you all grow and evolve. From those of you who have found success making a living on your work, to those still creating for the sheer joy of doing what you love, and also those who have found beauty in other mediums of life - starting families, businesses, new creative ventures. What an honor to watch you all grow. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your artistic journey.
Perhaps the biggest thank you goes to every person who’s experienced a beautiful moment in life accompanied by one of our releases, truly, thank you for allowing the music to be with you. It’s so easy to lose sight of the meaning of music these days, as the industry focuses more on numbers and capitalistic ideas of success. What that doesn’t account for is what every individual play could mean to the individual listening. Much more meaningful than a few zero’s at the end of a number. Thank you all for supporting, sharing, and existing with this music.
I really could go on forever, but I already have. I was really hoping to have some massive announcement today in celebration, but I’ve learned that it’s better to take time making things right than rush them. That being said, new releases coming up from friends both old and new. Our first vinyl release is also on the horizon, which will hopefully be followed by some limited vinyl runs of some of our releases over the years. Curious what albums you’d like to have on wax?

Ikotu - Overpowering Light And Everything Was Gone
So happy to hear so much love for Ikotu's new EP the past couple weeks. Like always, his way of conveying stories through his music is amazing. Couldn't help but source some imagery from the 1956 film, A Short Vision, by Peter and John Foldes.
Multi-faceted legend, Ikotu is back with a spectacularly wacked-out four-track EP, Common Eider. The Scotland-based producer delivers the only thing a true Ikohead could hope for, twists and turns at every chance and a stunningly beautiful collection of sounds that always keeps you on your toes. Lose yourself in a world of little mechanical canines and prevalent waterfowl for a little while and see where it takes you.

Muta - One Night
One Night is the perfect song to pop on tonight and take a walk to your nearest park - converse with some ducks - and lay down and observe the stars. You'll look out into the great beyond with your new feathered friends and begin to feel small. So small. Perhaps insignificant even. But then you'll look beside you and see a beautiful duck and remember that it's the little moments sometimes, that can be bigger than the universe. Take it in.
Muta - Wellspring
So stoked to already be receiving so many wonderful comments towards Muta's new record! Hopefully you've already begun making memories with it. Wellspring is such a lovely opener - like taking a stroll down a cracked sidewalk on a sunny day, lazily taking in the small little things that are so easy to pass by.

Words don't describe how excited I am to announce the new full-length album from the legend, Muta (@cliff_harris ). Relatively quiet since 2018's LoopSoup, Muta has been cooking away at his most cohesive yet eclectic assortment of songs yet, resulting in an 11-song epic journey. Massive milestone to wake up to this morning. @bandcamp featured gonima’s new EP, Strands on their Best New Ambient editorial. So happy to have their help sharing this gorgeous work of art with the world.
@goni__ma has been on the SVNSET WAVES radar for 6 years now, so it is a true, true honor to finally present his new EP, Strands, with you all. The EP features four gorgeously intricate new original tracks from the Montreal-based producer, each fizzling and dissolving into a mesmerizingly complex yet comforting world. I can only imagine that this is what a computer's daydreams might sound like.
In addition to the four original tracks, each song has a coinciding remix. From @heoliene 's hypnotizingly clicky minimalism, to @brakence ’s super-textural glitch pop, @jim77077kimchi ’s vast hyper-IDM complexion, and Permutia's goofy illbient banger, this EP truly has something in it for all the glitch heads.
