WE DID OUR FIRST LIVE!!!! 🎉 Yesterday we did our very first live show as part of the @cheerfulearfulpodfest at @thebedfordpub in Balham, London! We absolutely LOVED it and are so grateful to everyone who came along and for all your support. It was such a fabulous day! 💛 A huge, huge thank you to the wonderful @bwhiteheadvoice — aka Wallace from Wallace and Gromit — for being our guest. Massive thanks to Ian for being part of the tech team, and to @ella.flmroll for capturing the day so beautifully as our videographer. Thank you to @agentdaeche for being such a wonderful person and an incredible support, and to @podomedy for cheering us on as we move forward on our pod journey. WHAT A 24 HOURS!!! We met at Battersea Power Station at Apple Headquarters and had the opportunity to meet some of the other wonderful nominees and have a chat with the creative team at @applepodcasts to see how they can help/do help podcasts. Then we popped for lunch by the river. It quickly dawned on us that we were eating at the same place we had eaten at the day we launched our first episode, 4 years ago, the day before. We may have both had a little weep about the weird synchronicity of that. We lightly discussed the possibility of winning and then quickly dismissed it…errr did you see the podcasts we were up against…The Guilty Feminist, Harriet Kemsley (from Amazon’s Last One Laughing) and @th0tstv and @mag_hags to name a few. We decided to travel by river and Esther made Susie pretend she was in a TUI advert…”oh darling hold my hand”. We stopped for an ice cream, a drink and sit down in the park by the Embankment, it was 🌞🌞🌞 Headed to the hotel and got ready. Pink and yellow outfits, obvs. We headed to the BBC and met the most glorious and inspiring women, and chatted with them over some delicious drinks and, Esther’s fave, Candy Kittens. Then it was award time! @samanthabaines absolutely smashed it as the host. What a woman! And when our award was called, well, I think you can tell from our faces, we weren’t expecting to win. With not even the hint of a speech prepared, not that you can tell 😬😬, the acceptance was a blur. I’m sure “pissing in the wind” and “dressing like a banana” are not what we would have chosen to say…😂 We are so INCREDIBLY grateful to @iwpodcastawards They really do champion women and are doing something spectacular enabling podcasting women and lifting them up. Thank you. Thank you also to our agent @agentdaeche for being there to support. Thank you to all the incredible women we met. We were super inspired by you all. After winning an award at the BBC last year, knocking it off a table and chipping it, whilst flailing my arms around in excitement to I’M SO FANCY by Iggy Azalea, I assumed the prosecco tipped down my top on the first sip meant we were on for a win.
