I couldn’t sleep last night thinking about @jerriejoy . This was the first day I met her, last year, to assist her with props on a shoot for the office she designed for @wk_sydney I was in awe. @nicgossage shot it with @seekoch .
JJ was calm, nothing seemed to frazzle her. She was a bright spark of joy and coolness combined; she reminded me these jobs don’t need to be serious and cold. She was fun, welcoming and collaborative with a brilliant mind. I took notice of what she kept in the shot and took out. I had so many questions for her. How was one person so productive? Nothing was too hard for her. She knew how to bring a vision to life.
She got me on other projects. Sourcing fabrics for restaurant builds. The right shade of yellow ceramics. Tasking me to find 50 vintage Nike hats. Seeking out the perfect apple. I learned so much as I noticed what she liked and didn’t like. I LOVED WHEN SHE WROTE IN ALL CAPS!
Thinking of JJ’s husband, family and close ones. I wish I had got to know her better. But I’m grateful to have been in her orbit, even for just a little while.
