Panzer Dragoon Orta â (2002)
Panzer Dragoon Orta is a rail shooter developed by Smilebit and published by Sega exclusively for the Xbox. The fourth entry in the Panzer Dragoon series, players follow Orta, a young girl rescued by a dragon, as she sets out on a mission to stop the misuse of ancient technology.
Core gameplay revolves around guiding an aiming reticle to take down enemies while a dragon carries the player through 3D environments along a fixed path.
A Panzer Dragoon Orta Limited Edition Xbox dropped on December 19, 2002 at just 999 numbered units, only available to Sega Direct pre-order customers. The all-white console came loaded with a matching controller, the game, a soundtrack CD, and a dragon head necklace. Twenty-plus years later, complete copies are valued at several thousand dollars.
The Gamecube era of Star Fox
Star Fox Adventures was released on September 23, 2002 as Rare's only GameCube game and as the final game that the company developed for a Nintendo home console before they were acquired by Microsoft the day after the game's release in the United States.
Star Fox Adventures differed from the other games of the Star Fox series by being an action-adventure game in the vein of The Legend of Zelda series instead of an on-rail shooter.
The game originated from two separate projects originally in production for the Nintendo 64: a proposed action-adventure sequel to Star Fox 64 that was in development at Nintendo EAD in Kyoto, and Dinosaur Planet, an original property created by Rare that began development in 1997.

Dem Bones is an unlockable skeleton character in EA's Skate series â traditionally earned by completing half of the Hall of Meat challenges.
For Skate 2, EA pressed 350 real skate decks featuring Dem Bones as a pre-order exclusive. They're highly sought after now. (Video via @calplex on YouTube)
The "Dem Bones" archetype traces back to the animated skeletons in the 1963 film Jason and the Argonauts â campy by design, distinct from zombies mostly because they skipped the flesh.

Concept art from Drake's Fortune (2007)
Decided to play through the entire Uncharted series from start to finish after hearing the first one isn't the strongest entry. Just finished Drake's Fortune (2007) and honestly found it pretty decent for a game approaching 20 years old... the remaster holds up. As a fan of Time Crisis type games, I liked the combat sections. I'm sure I'm not the first to make this comparison but it felt a lot like Time Crisis dressed up as Tomb Raider.
The plot is annoyingly thin; I found myself skipping most cut scenes in the second half of the game â but the game moves fast and the whole thing is easily over a few play sessions. I don't love the new enemy type twist in the final stretch. Felt out of place and VERY 2007.
On one hand, the game is 20 years old so itâs easy to excuse its flaws, but on the other, games like Halo 3, Super Mario Galaxy, and The Witcher came out the same year - all of which are STILL considered all-timers. 2007 was arguably one of the strongest years in gaming history, which makes "it was 2007" a tough excuse to lean on.
What are your thoughts on the Uncharted series? Which Uncharted game is the best?
