Thank you forever and ever @mccranker for the temporary Covid shelter at your house in Vancouver. My eldest, Max, came home today with his own version of the OG Girl doll so it was only natural that we thought of you.
I view Friday, March 13th 2020 as the day Covid exploded everyone’s life. That’s the day our school shutdown and I did a full-cart panic shop and watched a regular old grocery store escalate from a normal day to a frenzy of people buying anything they could get their hands on.
Crazy that tomorrow marks 5 years since that day. We all had our struggles to adapt. My family toughed it out in San Francisco for 4 months trying to make school work, eventually pulling them out and enrolling them in the school of life (taught by me) and a few school assignments. Once summer hit we retreated to Canada, where my wife and I grew up, so the grandparents could help us out with the kids.
At some point in the summer it dawned on us that our kids could go to school up there as Covid was super delayed compared to California. I put an email out to a wide array of friends in BC and Rick answered. Rick being Rick, always amazing, said “rent my house as long as you like” and he went across town to stay at another friend’s apartment for a change of scenery.
Those early days of Covid really hurt a lot of people, but for us it was the most surreal feeling of being transient at a time when few were floating around. My family will forever hold the 5 months of living in Vancouver and going to Canadian elementary school as a time when we got even tighter and made some of the best memories.
Thank you Rick. ❤️
We started filming “KRONOS” in the summer of 2019, just prior to signing a lease for the Arrow & Beast Paris shop. Of course this happened a few weeks prior to Covid dumping the world on its head, so it’s been a complicated ride to open a retail space and film a proper video.
Thanks to all of the Arrow & Beast staff and team for being patient through the many complications to put this one together. A huge thank you to @domschneider and @blobyhad for wrangling the edit, and the numerous contributing filmers, photographers and musicians. An extra special shout-out to Thrasher, @colemathews & @pivot_to_fakher specifically, for getting behind us on this project.
Watch “KRONOS” on Thrasher’s website and support your local skateshop if you’re lucky enough to have a good one in your backyard.

Found myself revisiting some older work today… this one for Gino’s Samba with Adidas was a proper historical excavation; which is always a favorite. Revisiting past video parts that I’d dissected as a kid, interviewing Scott about Gino’s overall mystique, getting Soc to dig through shoe boxes to find unseen footage of Gino, Dill, Pupeki & Keenan, working through the edit structure with Kirk, the many photographers involved… ALL OF IT!
Hollywood Skate Jam ended a little faster than we’d planned. @vtanderson took home the $10K, @kirby29 backed him up and won $2.5K. Thrasher will have a proper recap edit soon enough.
Big thanks to those who made it happen, those who ripped, those who showed up… but most of all the LAFD for being so cool about the unexpected chaos. Dude who lit the car on fire better disappear for a while.

I always love peering behind the curtain to see how others bring their ideas to life. Benny with the epic edit, Dill with the Voiceover, Mikey across all of it. Hollywood Skate Jam is tomorrow, Saturday July 30th, from 4-8pm. 1634 N Las Palmas Hollywood, CA

Very excited to see the Hollywood Skate Jam come to life this Saturday. This one has been quietly in the works for a while. Thanks to all who had their hand in making it happen.
