2111VAU Harbour Early Learning, Vaucluse - designed with @aboutsjb @daniellebrustman and constructed by @veritycon this purpose built childcare centre is a playful, uplifting addition to its location. On a tight suburban site, the multistorey centre offers a range of outdoor and indoor play environments, culminating in a rooftop playground shaded by established fig trees on the adjacent public school grounds.Designed for and operated by @harbourearlylearning there is nothing generic about this build with each room individually themed featuring painted murals and artworks throughout the centre.Photos 1 and 5 by @hamishmcintoshPhotos 2, 3 and 4 by @seanfennessy

1819CLA 281 Clarence St : the building is divided into two wings by a central atrium, once an open light well into the prison yard below of the heritage police station. With a glazed roof, the atrium provides light deep into the centre of the building despite the building's single address to Clarence St.Each floor includes operable windows into the atrium with Gaffa gallery operating from the ground floor, and a new lift was added at the rear of the premises connecting the ground floor, all levels, and the roof garden.Photo by @hamishmcintosh

GAFFA Creative Precinct — aka 281 Clarence St — aka the pink building.In 2018 Supercontext were engaged to undertake the complete refurbishment of the building which, after 30 years, was in need of upgrade to meet contemporary standards.The project which was completed earlier this year developed further to incorporate a new outdoor roof garden, to be used as an extension of the existing art gallery currently used as an outdoor garden and secondary exhibition space.Video, @dan_knott

2002RAN Randwick Preschool for @montessoriacademyaus is nestled in amoungst high density apartments as part of a wider redevelopment.The childcare centre is distinct but related to the language of its neighbours, continuing a strong language of repeated verticals while also recognising the heritage of "Newmarket House" to which the childcare centre is an extension to and refurbishment of the heritage house.The eastern facade is marked by a concrete collonade, with windows and walls inset and shaded by overhangs and metal awnings in a homage to the heritage window cowls on the western facade of Newmarket House.Built by @verityconPhotographed by @hamishmcintosh
