since I’ve wanted to read this book for what feels like forever, I’m going to share some of my favorite (re: love) sentiments + quotes (re: and other words) from the queens @christinalauren !!! 📖🌸🤍 — “Favorite word?” he whispers. I don’t even hesitate: “You.” — Treat your body carefully. Take care of it. Don’t let anyone abuse it, and don’t abuse it yourself. Every inch of your skin I made diligently; months I slaved over you. You are my masterpiece. (this is my FAV!!!) — Are you happy?” I ask him. The question is so abrupt, I expect him to balk a little, but he doesn’t. “I’ve had moments of it, yeah.” I don’t like this answer. I want him to be joyful, loved, adored, full of everything, all the time. “I’ll admit,” he adds, “I feel more of it being near you. starting something new + fun + fresh and hopefully it lifts you up as much as it does for me!!! in the spirit of spreading joy and optimism with @lifeisgoodco , Fridays are now known as ~glass half full Friday~ 🖤☕️ so what’s that about?? in the 28 years I’ve been rockin on this earth, I’ve been prone to find the silver linings and in the last ten or so years, I’ve experienced some pretty significant losses, realizations, and health concerns. while I do still manage to find those glimmers, rainbows, and little joys, it’s been tougher lately — I try to keep the vibes sunny over here (ya know chase the sun and all that jazzzzzz) but it’s been harder lately. losing certain pieces of independence, uncovering hard realities of my past in talk therapy, and living with a chronic condition has taken a toll on me physically and mentally. *cue glass half full friday* 🥛 I want this to be a space where we can yap about our realities but look for the glimmers too. here’s to my fellow mil spouses who know the hustle of late nights, early mornings, doing a lot on your own for maybe the first time ever + figuring it out as we go 🤍 I’m not sure I ever know what I’ve signed up for (iykyk) but I think there’s a beauty in maybe the only thing ever being consistent is change, which brings us back to the name of the series. whatever the change may be — a sudden deployment, change of orders, last minute missed events, we hold on to the person we chose to marry AND support in their military career. AND while we remain steadfast, it’s not easy. I’ve known a lot of adverse life experiences prior to my marriage to a service member and I have been told for so long, “oh you are just so strong, I don’t know how you do it,” and the truth? I never WANTED to be strong but I had to. it wasn’t optional. the same holds true for so many of us as military spouses — ideal situations are not what create strong individuals; it’s often the nights we go to bed without them by our sides or the hard doctors appointments we wish we could call them about immediately after to debrief that shape our strength. I would not have chosen any other human than J to love for the rest of my life, but for now at least, I share him with the Navy, & our ever-changing and unpredictable experience continues to teach me lessons that so many may never fully understand. they say the ones that get it, get it, and the ones that don’t, don’t, and yeah, I’d say that tracks ❣️ those who do get it though, are behind each and every @rriveterbags . created to help us feel good, look good, & do good, all of R.
