Wear Your Darkest Colors is a song that is meant to capture a time and place where children play outdoors but unfortunately do not grow old together. Oftentimes, people reflect on their younger years with rose colored glasses. This story is no different and the cover art should reflect that.

“I made the powerline the central focus of the composition and surrounded it with even richer vegetation and flowers, as a subtle nod to “Heavy Step.” The scene has a dreamlike, nostalgic quality: it suggests dusk, but the colors remain vibrant and full of life.”

SUNLIGHT.EXE takes inspiration from the concepts of liminality and the current art trends associated with it. As an artist, I found myself venturing into familiar territory but taking unfamiliar paths. This allowed me to explore new corners and see things with a fresh pair of eyes, while also feeling a healthy amount of anxiety about the unknown that lies around a corner.
Arnau Bosc, a graphic designer, helped me manifest this vision by combining elements of liminality and the natural world. We see a flowerbed inside a tiled room. Individually, these things are familiar, but together they create questions. The audience can turn to the third element, the light source, for clues. The song Heavy Step has lyrical themes of being lost and trying to find your way home on a weathered path that has become unfamiliar. However, there are beacons of light to be found.

Can’t believe the President of the United States decided to go after us on social media. Wild times. He’s not even part of the local scene — pretty sure he’s never stepped foot in a DIY venue, let alone listened to a track without someone explaining it first.
What makes it funnier is that the satire in our song clearly went right over his head. The guy’s so dense he probably thought “Piranhana - America” was an actual campaign anthem. And that “Sunlight.exe Remix”? He hates it because he doesn’t get it. Which, honestly, is kind of the point.

There’s a dysfunctional relationship between art and self destruction. Last Ditches is a personal testament to that experience. There are lyrical themes of chasing dreams and making yourself broken in the process. When the unobtainable is just out of reach, but still visible, a tension is created. This tension leads to mistakes which are available for all to gawk at.
Using photos taken outside of LA, a story began to proliferate.
