When I started my agency, I used to change directions every 3 months. I tried to come up with the "perfect niche" or "perfect brand story". Well guess what? We were broke. Eventually I got bored of it and stopped caring. But I still had clients and employees, so I kept coming to work everyday. After 6 months of putting in the boring work every day without changing directions... I looked at the bank account and we had made a profit of over $200k. Stop being too smart for your own good. Just do the boring tasks everyday.

They say you need 10,000 hours to master a skill. Well, I’m fucked. Because I’m a “jack of all trades”. Coding, designing, filmmaking, photography, music, copywriting, sales... list goes on. But it doesn’t mean I’m a “master of none”. Because I did spend 10,000 hours on one thing: STORYTELLING. Whether I was designing, making videos, writing, or selling, I was ALWAYS telling stories. If you’re not sure if you’re wasting time right now doing the wrong thing... Remember that EVERYTHING you do is building towards a goal whether you know it or not. Don’t worry about where you’re going. Just take the right next step.

Jack of all trades is a master of none... but oftentimes better than a master of one. People hear this and use it as an excuse to pursue many different niches. And that's why they fail. If you're multi-passionate, here's a better way: Focus 80% of your attention on the passion that makes you money. Then put 20% of your focus on all your other passion. One day the 20% will turn into 80%.

I stopped setting New Year’s resolutions years ago. Every time I start with a “bang”, I never end up sticking with it. Everything I’ve ever achieved in life happened by accident. I do something imperfectly without expectations and before I know it, years had gone by and it became something special. When your New Year’s resolution doesn’t go perfectly, don’t say “fuck it, it’s over”. Just keep doing it imperfect. You’ll thank yourself at the end of the year. Comment “email me” to get on my mailing list.

If you have to constantly persuade people with marketing to buy your service, it's because you don't have a good reputation. Your brand is basically your reputation and that can't be bought overnight. You have to invest in it over time.

Guess how many of them asked for their money back? Zero. It was never even about the money. It showed them how confident I was in my ability, which makes them feel assured in hiring me.
