Happy to launch the first fast charging hub within an HDB carpark at Plantation Plaza in Tengah with @choopeiling.sg , to meet growing demand for EV charging facilities! With 8 fast charging points (up to 100 kW) and 6 slow charging points (7.4 kW), EV owners in Tengah will now have faster and more convenient access to charging. We will progressively roll out more fast charging hubs across Singapore, with at least one in every HDB town by end-2027. We are also increasing charger provision at HDB carparks. Most Tengah carparks will feature at least 8 charging points, including 2 fast charging points. This goes beyond the typical baseline of 3 slow charging points deployed at most HDB carparks today. We are also taking steps to ensure new BTO residents can access EV charging facilities sooner. Since last month, @ltasg and @singaporehdb have implemented a new process that allows EV Charging Operators to begin deployment immediately after the issuance of the Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) at BTO projects. This means EV chargers can now be ready around 6 months after TOP, compared to up to 1.5 years previously, so residents can move in and start using them with a much shorter wait. @spgroup.sg

Over the Mother’s Day weekend, I received this handmade light glass artwork from Christine, one of our Punggol West children. She shared that she made it herself with her friends and wanted to gift it to me. When the artwork lit up, it made the piece even more special, and I was very touched by the effort behind it. The light now sits beside my computer at home! Thank you Christine and my dear Punggol West children!

Recently we experienced two fires in our Punggol rental block. I am grateful that some of our residents came together to alert and help other residents. Our RN volunteers also quickly came together to assist affected families by opening the RN centre for them to rest and providing basic necessities to the families. We are grateful that HDB assisted the family swiftly by providing them an alternative rental flat and Punggol Town Council provided cleaning and moving services.

Through our Half-Priced Grocery programme, we hope to continue supporting our residents with their daily needs and cost of living concerns. Our residents benefit by saving up to $75 every shopping trip. From packing to distributing groceries, every helping hand plays a part in making the programme run smoothly and ensuring support reaches families who need it. Grateful to all our volunteers and community partners for coming together to care for our residents in these small but meaningful ways.

<< House visit to Blk 271C >> Spent the evening visiting residents at Blk 271C. We spread our house visits across two evenings so we could spend more time with each household and better understand the concerns and suggestions shared by residents in Punggol West. Many residents spoke to us about their day-to-day experiences in the estate. These conversations give us a clearer sense of what residents are looking out for, and we will continue working with the relevant agencies to follow up on the issues raised.

<< Sun Xueling Reads Ep 220: Great Idea Malia! by Alliah L. Agostini >> As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us remember that helping mummy does not always have to be something big. A simple hug, helping to tidy up, and spending time together can mean so much. Let us continue to encourage our children to do the small things right with love and sincerity. It may not always be perfect, but every little effort, thoughtful gesture and helping hand matters ❤️

Celebrating Mother’s Day with our Punggol West residents over a sea salt cookie baking session! Our children had fun baking together with their mummies, and even some daddies joined in to help too. Thank you to our Punggol West WEC for organising this sweet treat for our mummies. Happy Mother’s Day!

I visited the newly upgraded Serangoon Central Village yesterday together with GRA Seah Kian Peng. The development spans two floors – a refreshed wet market and food court on the first floor, and a new community space, Hub with a Heart @ Serangoon (HWAH), on the second. It is one of HDB’s wet markets that was previously sold on a 30-year lease and was returned to HDB after its lease expired in 2024. HDB then took the opportunity to give it a new lease of life - the wet market is now brighter, cleaner, and has a new layout to accommodate more stallholders. The stallholders I spoke to welcomed the bright, airy layout. Residents had also shared with me that they found the rejuvenated market to be a more pleasant marketing experience for them. They were also glad to have more food options than before with a new eating house. On the second floor, youths can hang out at HWAH – a community space where youths can study, connect, and take part in activities. Serangoon Central Village is an example of how HDB refreshes sold wet markets when they are returned at the end of their leases: HDB takes back the ownership of the wet market, and uses the opportunity to revitalise the spaces to ensure that our heartland retail spaces better meet the residents’ needs and preferences. This was also the case with Keat Hong Market & Food Centre. From now to end-2027, four more wet markets – Fajar Shopping Centre, Yew Tee Square, Bukit Batok West Shopping Centre, and Woodlands North Plaza – will be reaching the end of their 30-year lease. Residents living near these wet markets can look forward to a similarly better shopping experience close to home.

This morning, I visited Tongkang LRT station to see how commuters are adjusting to the ongoing Sengkang West Inner Loop closure and how our teams are supporting them on the ground. This is my second visit to the LRT network since works began. About 6,000 commuters are using the dedicated shuttle buses daily, supported by about 200 LTA and SBST staff. LTA had earlier also deployed two-car Light Rail Vehicles on the Outer Loop and increased train frequencies, which helps to boost capacity and reduce wait times. These works are necessary as we expand the Sengkang-Punggol LRT depot for a larger and more reliable fleet and a more resilient system to meet growing commuter needs. LTA is working towards completing the works by October 2026. Thank you to our Sengkang residents for your patience and understanding.

<< Sun Xueling on Efficient Utilisation of EV Charging Infrastructure >> We have undertaken the initial deployment of EV chargers across our public estates and private premises and now have 30,500 charging points across Singapore. However, we are mindful that with EV and its charging technology continuously evolving, we must be careful not to overbuild as chargers can become obsolete quickly. We are also constrained by space and electricity. I had shared earlier about our intention to build fast charging hubs in every HDB town by end 2027. We will also look into other measures such as load balancing and scheduled charging in time to come to better manage demand, avoid unnecessary costly grid upgrading and better make use of our grid capacity.
