[A Year On] It has been a year since the General Election. A year ago, many of you opened your doors to me, invited me into your homes, and shared your thoughts about Tengah — what you hoped it could become, and what you were concerned about along the way. I am very grateful for that trust. This past year has been very full. There are days I feel more like a full-time contractor than a professor — always something on the ground that needs attention. Site walks, inspections, follow-ups, meetings with agencies and contractors, then back again to see how things are progressing. A new town is always in motion. What has stayed with me most is the people. Residents who share feedback, ideas, and questions. Residents who step forward to help — to volunteer, to contribute, to be part of what Tengah becomes. This reminds me that Tengah is not something being done to people, but something being shaped with people. I have also learned that what is shared on the ground does not stay only on the ground. Some matters can be followed up quickly. Some take longer because they involve different agencies, design considerations, or careful planning. Some are raised in Parliament, where they are discussed at a national level. When that happens, I am conscious that what I say carries weight, and must reflect not just my own view, but what residents here are experiencing and concerned about. That responsibility stays with me. This first year has been about learning how to build a town while it is already being lived in — learning what it means to build something with people, not just for them. I am grateful for your trust, your patience, and your willingness to be part of this journey in your own ways. I will continue to do my best. — Pei Ling #LoveWhereWeLive #Tengah

[🍦Ice Cream Distribution @ Garden Terrace] Blk 224’s playground was still buzzing when we arrived — children running around, parents chatting nearby, and residents enjoying the evening together 🍦😄 Quite a few came by straight after playtime for ice cream, a quick chat, then off they went back to the playground again. We also got to meet some residents for the first time since they moved into Tengah, and shared more about the Tengah welcome pack collection at Tengah Community Club. These everyday conversations matter. They are how neighbours get to know one another, how trust is built, and how a new town slowly grows into a community ❤️ Thank you to all our residents and volunteers who spent the afternoon with us! #LoveWhereWeLive #Tengah #GardenTerrace

[💼📍 Tengah’s First Skills & Career Fair 2026] Tengah hosted its first-ever Skills and Career Fair at Tengah Community Club for all residents in Chua Chu Kang GRC. Joined by Min Tan See Leng @tanseeleng , Ag Min Jeffrey Siow @siow.jeffrey , 2nd Adviser Chua Wei-Shan, we were glad to meet residents and employers at the fair. Tengah residents have shared with me their needs around jobs, skills and caregiving, and the importance of having support closer to home. For the first time, residents could access employability support within the community, including career coaching, resume support, job matching, on-site interviews, NTUC AI Career Coach and the e2i–IMDA TECH Portal. More than 2,500 PMET and non-PMET job opportunities were available, with 18 employers conducting on-site interviews. A dedicated job wall also features roles in Tengah and across Chua Chu Kang, supporting those who prefer to work nearer to home. This is not a one-off effort. A self-service e2i job kiosk (see second photo) will be stationed in Tengah over the next month, extending access to career support within the community. As AI and digital transformation reshape the economy, we want to support our people to adapt and remain future-ready. Thank you to NTUC E2I @ntucsingapore @ilovee2i , all employer partners and volunteers who made this possible. 🙏🏻 #LoveWhereWeLive #Tengah #AI

[🔌 Tengah’s First EV Fast Charging Hub is Here!] Good news for residents — Tengah has launched its first EV fast charging hub at Blocks 123 and 129, Plantation Village, with SMS Sun Xueling @sun.xueling , LTA, EVe, SP Group, and partner agencies. Feedback from residents, community volunteers and Residents’ Networks (RNs) has helped shape this rollout — including improving charging mix, increasing capacity, and lot selection to better meet evolving demand. The hub provides 8 DC fast charging points and 6 AC charging points, giving residents greater convenience for both quick top-ups and longer charging durations. Located beside Plantation Plaza — Tengah’s first neighbourhood mall — it brings EV charging closer to daily activities, allowing residents to charge while dining, shopping, or running errands. We thank residents for their patience and continued feedback, and all partner agencies (led by LTA) for their close collaboration in delivering this milestone. We will continue working closely with residents to optimise EV charging provision across the remaining carparks in Tengah as the town grows❤️. #LoveWhereWeLive #Tengah #EV

Happy to launch the first fast charging hub within an HDB carpark at Plantation Plaza in Tengah with @choopeiling.sg , to meet growing demand for EV charging facilities! With 8 fast charging points (up to 100 kW) and 6 slow charging points (7.4 kW), EV owners in Tengah will now have faster and more convenient access to charging. We will progressively roll out more fast charging hubs across Singapore, with at least one in every HDB town by end-2027. We are also increasing charger provision at HDB carparks. Most Tengah carparks will feature at least 8 charging points, including 2 fast charging points. This goes beyond the typical baseline of 3 slow charging points deployed at most HDB carparks today. We are also taking steps to ensure new BTO residents can access EV charging facilities sooner. Since last month, @ltasg and @singaporehdb have implemented a new process that allows EV Charging Operators to begin deployment immediately after the issuance of the Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) at BTO projects. This means EV chargers can now be ready around 6 months after TOP, compared to up to 1.5 years previously, so residents can move in and start using them with a much shorter wait.

[🌧️Garden Bloom and Garden Waterfront I: New Temporary Sheltered Linkways and Signalised Pedestrian Crossings] Dear Garden Bloom and Garden Waterfront I residents, More good news! New temporary sheltered linkways and 3 signalised pedestrian crossings will be constructed along Tengah Central and Tengah Garden Avenue, linking to the earlier announced pair of temporary bus stops. We hope these enhancements help residents navigate between their flats and the bus stops, especially during rainy weather. Timeline: Works will commence from mid-May 2026 and are expected to complete by August 2026, barring any unforeseen delays. Your patience is much appreciated as we work to improve our neighbourhood infrastructure. Thank you to LTA @ltasg for working with us to improve the estate. ( Link to earlier announced temporary bus stops: /p/DX0uFdJEnk6/ ) Let’s love where we live and together create a home we love in Tengah ❤️ #LoveWhereWeLive #Tengah #GardenBloom #GardenwaterfrontI

[Connecting Partnerships to Opportunities in Tengah] Good conversations at the NTUC May Day Awards 2026 yesterday evening with partners across the labour movement and transport sector. Congratulations to Winston Toh, Managing Director of Tower Transit Singapore @towertransitsg , on receiving the Medal of Commendation in recognition of efforts supporting workers’ welfare and development. As a result of these engagements, Tower Transit Singapore will be participating in Tengah’s first-ever Skills & Career Fair this Saturday, joining employers and partners in bringing more employment opportunities closer to residents in the new town. More details are here: /p/DXyiNKSklms/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== The fair will feature close to 800 job opportunities across PMET and non-PMET roles, allowing residents to connect directly with employers from different sectors. As Tengah grows, I will continue working with partners across industry, the labour movement and the community to strengthen opportunities for residents as the town develops. More broadly, building a new town goes beyond physical infrastructure alone. It is also about steadily building partnerships, networks and pathways for residents alongside the community. Thank you to all workers, union leaders and employers who continue contributing quietly and steadily to keeping Singapore moving every day. #LoveWhereWeLive #Tengah #EveryWorkerMatters

[🔌 Shaping Tengah’s EV Rollout Together] Tengah residents have shared feedback over time on EV charging access within the town. From early planning through implementation and as the town evolves, resident input has shaped how EV charging is being rolled out in Tengah. This reflects a broader approach where infrastructure in a new town is progressively refined alongside community development. I have been engaging LTA @ltasg and relevant agencies on EV deployment in a new town context like Tengah, where precincts come onstream progressively and infrastructure must be carefully sequenced across different stages of development. Discussions have covered key considerations including deployment sequencing across precincts, charger mix (AC and DC), carpark readiness, lot selection, and inter-agency coordination to support a practical and timely rollout as the town grows. Tengah Residents’ Network Chairs and Community Volunteers have played an important role in this co-creation process — surfacing ground realities from early needs to ongoing implementation, helping ensure discussions with agencies remain grounded in lived experience and evolving community needs. This engagement has also been supported through Parliamentary and Supplementary Questions raised earlier this month, which further surfaced how deployment planning can better align with the pace of development in new estates like Tengah. (Link: /p/DX_tg74S948/?hl=en) More broadly, building a new town is a continuous co-creation process — where infrastructure systems are shaped, refined, and improved through sustained feedback from residents, grassroots leaders, and agencies working together. As implementation continues in phases, I look forward to sharing further updates as progress continues on the ground. #LoveWhereWeLive #Tengah #EV

[Meet-the-People Session at Tengah] Tonight’s session reminded me of all the roles we play in life - as a parent worrying about the child, as a spouse caregiving for the better half, as a sibling fending for another, as a child taking care of senior parents. Each comes with responsibility, but also care for one another. No matter what challenge you face, we will try to work things out together. Thank you for the trust 🙏🏻 And thank you to my volunteers who so selflessly serve to support residents. Each of you mean a lot to me. 😇❤️

[UITS 50th Anniversary Celebrations 🎉] The Union of ITE Training Staff (UITS) @ite_uits marks its 50th anniversary this year — a meaningful milestone that reflects the important role training staff have played in strengthening Singapore’s skills ecosystem over time. As Advisor to UITS, I was glad to join members, partners and fellow advisors in marking this occasion. What stands out is how the journey of UITS mirrors the evolution of Singapore’s workforce transformation — from building foundational technical capabilities in earlier years, to today’s emphasis on continuous upskilling, adaptability, and preparing our workforce for a more complex economy. Training staff at ITE sit at a very important point in this system — where learning meets industry, and where skills are translated into real pathways for students entering the workforce. Their work is often behind the scenes, but remains central to how we strengthen mobility and opportunity for Singaporeans. It was meaningful to see leaders across different phases of Singapore’s labour movement and workforce development journey come together to mark this milestone — including Mr Lim Boon Heng and Mr Lim Swee Say, alongside GOH Minister Desmond Lee @desmond.lee reflecting the continued partnership across Government, labour and the community. Beyond the celebrations, the programme also featured student performances and the launch of a UITS e-book capturing its 50-year journey — a reminder that workforce transformation is ultimately built through sustained effort over time by educators and training professionals. Congratulations to UITS on this milestone, and thank you to all past and present leaders, members and partners who have contributed to this journey. #ITE #NTUC #EveryWorkerMatters

[ Young Technopreneur Challenge 2026💡] What an energetic afternoon at the Young Technopreneur Challenge (YTC) 2026! Seeing the passion and creativity behind our students’ innovations was heartening, and it was wonderful to witness how this partnership between South West CDC @southwest.cdc , HP Singapore @hp , and Junior Achievement (JA) Singapore @juniorachievementsingapore has grown and deepened over the last six years. The YTC programme equips our youth to tackle climate challenges through a STEM lens. 104 youth across 13 schools participated in this year’s programme, which included a newly introduced AI workshop where participants explored the capabilities and limitations of AI, applying their learning to develop smarter and more effective solutions, while honing their problem-solving skills. Thanks to the judges, mentors, and volunteers from HP Singapore and JA Singapore for dedicating their time to guide the teams through the bootcamps and final pitches. Congratulations to all finalists and winning teams! 🏆 Let’s continue empowering our young leaders to embrace a “We-First” mindset and take shared responsibility in shaping a more resilient and environmentally responsible Singapore. #SouthWestCDC #Sustainability #STEM #AI
