IT’S OFFICIAL! @thetravelingwildfires are on tour and our first festival of the year is tomorrow at the @gamblerogersfest in Florida then we are playing at @merlefest at the end of the month! I want to give a special shoutout to my wife and our manager @vaniakinard for making this vision into a reality! Plus, this wouldn’t be possible without our incredible booking agents @virginiaprater1 and @chris___rusk at @praterday !
Since leaving the @carolinachocolatedrops and then becoming a solo artist in 2014, it’s been a goal of mine to build a new Black string band with a roster of musicians! Not only are we playing tons of bluegrass, folk, country, Americana but we are bringing in gospel, the blues, jazz and so much more to all the shows! I’m looking forward to being on the road with @dantepope , @traywellington@befarrow , and @sulegreg . Plus, there will be more special guests and surprises along the way! We have almost three dozen shows booked and more of them will be announced soon! Make sure to visit our brand new website thetravelingwildfires.com and follow us too for more tour updates! 🔥🔥 Here’s a preview video from our performance at @intlbluegrass a few years ago with our special guest Dr. Richard Brown on mandolin! More tour dates will be announced soon!

Dom Flemons’ Traveling Wildfires have arrived! Our first program, presided over by Diego Rivera’s amazing murals in the Detroit Institute of Arts, was a Wildfire S.R.O. Success! Elders and toddlers braved the cold, bounced with the music and sang right along, and fell into reverent reflection on the deep numbers. Thank you, Detroit, for the heartfelt welcome! It’s a great start to a great year of touring. We’ve got engagements nearly every month; we’ll be near you soon. Plus: AfrAm history is World History; rec’nise YOUR part in it, for it has touched you deeply…more than you know.
Got some friends together to share some good music with y’all! Come on out w/ones you love to the Folk & Heritage Festival @ Saguaro Ranch Park in Glendale, AZ on Sunday, March 1, 2026. YOU KNOW—it’s gonna be a Funky Good Time! See you then, Slick. See you then. New book, Rhythm ‘n’ Spirit: African Wisdom for Universal Connection, ‘ll be out then, too! Whoo Hoo!
Getting ready for our March 1st show as Súle & the Git Downs—Glendale AZ Folk & Heritage Festival—we’re doing Memphis, New Orleans, Jamaica, Mali…and having a good time! Y’all come on out & support. See ya!
Six months ago, we were visiting friends in Scotland; thanks so much for the hospitality!
In honor of friends—known, gone, and yet to come—comes a wee bit o’ Bobbie Burns to end 2025. May this year further us in our Earth-borne, spiritual missions, and let us share the love!
I’ll be moving about a bit in 2026, what with #travelingwildfires and #Rhythm’n’Spirit. Looking forward to seeing you!
