Hi! I’m Sugar and I think I’m overdue for a new intro since I am attracting new types of people. My account used to have over 50k followers and I trimmed it back when I stepped out of the “weddings” box.
Traditionally we are told to do one thing, and despite how it seems —-that’s exactly what I do: create. Do you feel free to create as you see fit in your life?
It’s a slow build type of process trying to switch gears and turn my daughters into business women as I myself pivot into a new chapter. I keep doing that toxic thing I do where I wait for perfection before ejection and that’s just not going to happen all the time. SO! —-Our retail truck / Brick and Mobile is ready to hit the pavements near you. Ready to showcase YOUR brand or product.

The concept is I send out one invitation to someone who I think is smart, interesting, creative, accomplished who I want to “show off” and ask that person to invite someone I DON’T know who meets the same criteria in their mind. Then the guest list builds itself that way. And it becomes a table full of very diverse and high level professionals, founders, and creatives.

The menu alone deserved its own post because @chef_ariaugenbaum killed it and the home made Twix, the lamb that melted in your mouth, the thousand later curried potatoes…I mean wtf. (@chef_ariaugenbaum , @nar33 and @treyalldey co-founded the @jewfrorestaurant in Richmond which you must indulge at least once)

My latest piece is another part of the “you’re already rich” collection. This one is focused on the man and his enlightenment and wisdom being his true wealth. Hard to see the metallic element of the book but it’s stunning in person. I wanted the viewer to wonder who his son sees as his hero? The action figure or his father?
My knee still hurts from the blooper at the end of this video lmao. 🤣 Keep me away from cameras.

A sweet trip to Milan and Lake Como at the request of my now 18 year old. For her coming of age trip she chose Italy 🇮🇹 and really wanted to see Lake Como which was on my bucket list too.
We took to the city of Milan for some shopping and great food, and all the gelato I can handle for a year lol.
Then we shot up to Lake Como for a boat ride, coming of age ceremony on the water, and stayed in a gorgeous villa. During the ceremony, we sipped champagne and passed along words of love, light and wisdom for Skye to take into the next chapter of her life, then tossed rose petals into the lake. I’m grateful I have the friends who pick up and go with us to partake in that momentous occasion as this is an important part of my parenting journey. So special thank you to @bnice31@creamqueen32@iamsofiatabdul for coming with us:)
We even spent a day in Switzerland 🇨🇭 and hit up a cool thrift market there.
All back and recovered now but it was a great trip. Happy birthday to both my girls: Charlize also turned 21 on this trip!
This installation of SAMAVAYA was just as refreshing energetically as it looked; with all of the spring tones and heavy nods to the Mediterranean, inspired by the chef’s meal.

I am working I promise but my painting in the evenings has been bearing some pretty fruit and I love to share it.
I introduce you to: Sweet. Which is SOLD.
Inspired by my fav necklace from @melissa_de_la_fuente who introduced me to this parable through her amazing work.
There is an ancient zen parable : A Monk is running from a Tiger. He comes to a cliff. Knowing death is imminent on either side, he jumps from the cliff, andon the way down sees a strawberrry, so he grabs it an enjoys the strawberry on the way down.
In this work, the parable is reimagined as an homage to Black youth growing up in inner cities—young people who often feel trapped between impossible choices. Behind them is the “tiger”: systemic poverty, violence, over-policing, and the pressure to survive through paths that can consume them. Ahead lies the cliff: the unknown risk of escape, reinvention, or choosing a life that offers no guarantees but at least offers freedom.
The strawberry represents something radical and often overlooked—joy, presence, and hope in the midst of uncertainty. It is the reminder that even when the future feels precarious, life is still happening now. There is still sweetness worth reaching for. There is still humanity, beauty, and choice.
