SPACES: Substation Studio
Step inside SPACES with SEVENSTORE, a series offering an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at innovative workspaces often hidden from public view. From photography and design studios to metalworks and beyond, no two spaces are the same – each is deeply reflective of the unique personalities, processes, and values within, which bring ideas to life.
In a city saturated with white-box studios and transactional everything, Substation arrives as something altogether more human. Founded by two northern brothers, Sam and Jack Nowell, the space sits at the heart of craft, community and consideration. Less a rental studio and more of a working creative ecosystem. Built from years spent navigating design, architecture and fashion, Substation feels like a natural meet-up of their worlds rather than a bold pivot.
Back in December, SEVENSTORE visited Substation Studio and caught up with Sam and Jack about their new venture.
