The Cortège is a participatory theatrical funeral procession that explores grief through ritual, intricate choreography, elaborate costuming, drone apparitions and large-scale puppetry.
“Beyond” is the closing chapter, where guests are invited to integrate the experience over warm tea and live music.
Invited by The Cortège to create a site-specific performance within “Beyond”, acclaimed synthesist and composer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith presents a one-time collaboration meditating on grief and love through electronic composition.
Guided by Rilke’s teaching that “we must learn to die,” Smith explores profound questions of loss: What do you do with love that is lost? Where do you put it? How do you give it life?
