Als je kuduro-ritmes in een dubstep-tune verwerkt? De Amsterdamse producer/dj styn toont zich op het album BLUPRINT een meester in het vermengen van genres die je eigenlijk zelden samen hoort. BLUPRNT is the blueprint for where I am at and where i am going musically. An album I conceptualized from finding new ways of composing and wanting to push boundaries within electronic sounds. Inspired by the days of early dubstep, where experimenting and pushing the sound forward was a shared mission. Filled with references to experiences in my life that shaped me & sonics reminiscent of the past, translated to something new. It can be played forward or backward, each direction revealing a different emotional arc. The cover is a selected work by long time collaborator @victor.schstr , made in production with @sikki.seis , it shows quotation marks that have been emptied out and flattened. It reflects on the disappearance of authorship in a world filled with repetition, references, and borrowed sayings. The symbols mirror a sound stretching from peak energy to after-hours depth but still overflowing with memory. First official @nachtwinkel020 label release, out now on all platforms. Transformer EP is out now. 3 tracks, fusing influences from Bubbling, Early Dubstep & Juke / Footwork I started these tracks back in 2021, when i was experimenting a lot with Electronic music genres i’ve always loved. After digging deeper in Bubbling battles & Speedy Bubbling from the late 90s i noticed some similarities in the high energy & bpm from these styles of Bubbling & Juke / Footwork. When i met @djrtje.wav in 2024 and i heard him making Bubbling tracks at 150BPM, i felt like it was time to finalize this project and push the BPM even higher. A great part of my work as a musician is research, finding similarities in genres and combining these into my own sound and my own music. The early Dubstep days influence is always heavily present in my music, since i fell in love with this genre back in 2010. These tracks use percussion rhythms & Bass patterns reminiscent of those days. With this music being a collaborative effort between my influences / genres that don’t necessarily align with each other at first sight, i thought it was only right to have the cover reflect this. In June, @tijmen_ijsendijk @jeroleeflang and @marley__white collaborated on a single piece of jewelry — each working for two days, without meeting or communicating directly. Their only exchange happened through what was left behind on the workbench. Each maker responded to the traces of the one before, continuing a silent, intuitive dialogue through material and form. This one-of-a-kind, handcrafted piece is part of “3x3=1”, an initiative by @atlasamsterdam , a jewelry platform based in the heart of Amsterdam.
