It’s time for my annual marketing post, in which I try to convince you all to buy a print (or ideally four thousand) so that I can avoid going out and getting a proper job for another year. Also, BIG NEWS, I can now finally accept payment via Paypal as well as all the other usual methods. I’ve had a few people say they would only buy prints if they could pay via PayPal, so I’m afraid all of these people are now legally obliged to rush to my website or officially be deemed liars in the eyes of the law. I think that’s how law works. Anyway, please consider buying a print - my sense of self worth depends on it. Thank you for your cooperation.

Breakfast Cereal Bands…a short series from a while back (swipe). This is another thing currently in the half price sale over on my website. I made ten prints of each of these back in the day. There’s still one or two left of most of them. If you’d like to grab the last ever prints at a bargain price, head on over to my shop.

Hello friends. I’m having a super-duper-huge-spectacularly-massive clearance sale! There’s dozens and dozens of things reduced by about 50%. Grab yourself a disgustingly cheap limited edition print now! Swipe to see a small selection of the bargains on offer. I’m aware that my shop is an absolute mess these days, so I want to have a bit of a clear out to try and make things a bit tidier and more streamlined on there. So, everything that’s currently in the sale section of my shop will remain there (while stocks last etc) until the end of May. After that pretty much all of it will be discontinued forever. There’s only one or two prints remaining of a lot of the things on there, so you may need to be quick with some. Others…there’s about four billion left. Let’s just say, if you wanted to buy one hundred Lou Reed Vicious prints at 11.59pm on the 31st of May I’m pretty confident you’ll be able to.

Some new work for the ever brilliant @mrjimbobfromcarter for his soon to be released EP, Panic Room. The artwork for the EP is inspired by those old mail in adverts at the back of comics. A concept I wish I thought of myself, but was all Jim’s idea. Still, it couldn’t tick any more of my boxes if it tried so I was in my absolute element working on it. The new EP is available to pre-order now. It has a super-duper limited pressing of 750 and rumour has it there’s only 50 or so left. Each one is signed and hand numbered by Jim. It was a lot of fun incorporating that concept into the design itself (swipe to see the back cover). If you want one of the last few available, head on over to @cherryredrecords . A huge thanks, as ever, to Jim and Marc for getting me involved.

The Stone Roses’ Ten Storey Love Song reimagined as a film poster for an old kitchen sink drama. This is part of a ‘songs as kitchen sink cinema’ series I did a while back. Hoping to finally get around to doing another instalment of it later this year. In case anyone’s interested, I just checked and there’s still a handful of prints of this remaining over on my website.

Released as a single 35 years ago to this very day, R.E.M.’s glorious Shiny Happy People. I was nine when it was released. If you’d told me then that 30+ years later I’d spend a couple of hours designing a parody of The Shining poster, I’d probably tell 40 something me to grow up. Kids can be so ruddy perceptive.

Pavement’s Range Life if Pavement’s Range Life was a 1950’s western movie. An early attempt at getting my head around digital painting from a few years back. Prints available.

A portrait of Michael Stipe. I absolutely love R.E.M. They’re one of the very first bands I got into at more than just a superficial level. All thanks to my older brother letting his annoying ten year old sibling raid his tape collection (thanks, Steve). I listened to all the albums he had on his shelf, which I think was pretty much everything other than Chronic Town. This was about 1991. My love for them only grew as the years passed. They’re one of those bands that have soundtracked all kind of important moments of my life. I remember rushing into town after school to buy Monster on the day of release, rushing through the crowds at at my first Glastonbury to see them in 1999 and, more recently, rushing to snap up tickets for Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy’s Fables show in London. Also, as an alternative music loving queer kid growing up in a little village in 90s England I cannot overstate how meaningful it was to have people like Michael Stipe around. With Section 28 in full effect there wasn’t much representation around as I was hitting puberty, particularly within the sorts of worlds I was interested in. So thank god for people like Stipe, Bob Mould and Roddy Bottum for helping me feel fractionally more normal. Anyway, I digress. Here’s a portrait I did of @michaelstipe in celebration of his musical output and also, to a lesser extent, his jaw line.

Happy Nerk Twins day to those who celebrate. Today marks the 66th anniversary of the gig a pre-Beatles Paul McCartney & John Lennon played under the moniker The Nerk Twins. The gig was at the Fox & Hounds in Caversham. A pub run by Paul’s Cousin Betty & her husband Mike. Here’s a poster I designed in tribute a few years back.
