Just recently we had @theglades_ back in. Keeping it real, keeping it live and capturing the vibes. A healthy reminder…sometimes music is captured best in its purest form….

A new album of music is complete thanks to this talented crew of musicians (along with a ragtag of others). It was recorded at Studio X by Mark Axiak in the village of Birkirkara, Malta. Χριστὸς ἀνέστη my lovelies.

RIP Phil ❤️ I was fortunate enough to hang and jam and talk music with Phil Campbell some years ago. He gave me some words that never left me, Incredibly inspiring words that helped me see myself. He invited me to his studio with his massive guitar collection, so i can give him tips on sounds, pedals. I was so humbled by his invitation. He was a rocker, and was simply curious about my pedalboard and the sounds coming from it. A reminder that true professionals are often humble and open. Don’t normally post this stuff, but its a shocker. Thanks for your insight and inspiration Lord A#sm&$!!! ❤️❤️ RIP

One of those days where you just love your job to the max. Legendary Maltese singer/songwriter Walter Micallef graced these walls with his presence, charm and energy. This is a man who truly can tell a story, and cut right through to the heart. Massive thanks and shout-out to @jespsaila for entrusting me with his beautifully penned song ❤️🙏#waltermicallef

Walk through the unassuming white door of @studioxmalta and you’re instantly wrapped in calm. It doesn’t feel like a traditional recording studio. It feels like a colourful, oversized living room filled with instruments, character and an impressive number of sofa chairs. Within seconds, you feel at home. But don’t let the cosy vibe fool you. Music lovers and gear enthusiasts will immediately clock the world class recording equipment inside. Studio X blends vintage analogue warmth with modern digital precision, with some top shelf gear making its first appearance in Malta. It’s the kind of space where creativity feels effortless. Instruments line the room, each one carefully chosen and full of personality. They practically beg to be picked up. Before you know it, you’re inspired. And at the heart of it all is Mark Axiak. Born in Sydney in 1975 to Maltese parents, Mark has been immersed in international performance and studio recording since 1989. After leaving Australia in 2004, he spent more than two decades touring, recording and living around the world. From Sydney to London, Oslo, New York, Stockholm and beyond, Mark has worked as a producer and engineer across countless genres and cultures. He has been endorsed by Fender and Gretsch, scored film and TV soundtracks, collaborated with artists from Berlin to Mali and Senegal, toured with major African acts and even performed at corporate offices of Sony Music. Indie, mainstream pop, major labels, underground scenes. He has seen it all. That depth of experience is obvious the moment you work with him. Studio X places strong emphasis on the enjoyment of the recording process. The focus is on performance, comfort and eliminating the stress that can sometimes come with stepping into a studio. Mark’s calm confidence and solution driven approach make artists feel at ease, allowing creativity to flow naturally. Whether you’re an established artist or someone discovering your sound for the first time, Studio X Malta offers something rare. A world class space that feels like home. And once you step inside, you might not want to leave.
