Salong # 3 is Studio Tabacs fourth group show and was based on an open call we had earlier in the spring. We got a huge number of works sent in, and we selected 81 artists with in total 97 works, which makes it Swedens largest photographic salon. In waiting for the opening of the show, we’re posting a selection of the works here on our instagram. Salong # 3 opens Saturday the 30th of May and stays up until the 13th of June. ARTISTS ANNOUNCEMENT SALONG # 3 30 May - 13 June 2026 We’re excited to invite you to our next vibrant and moody Salong # 3. This time, 81 artists will showcase their experimental, personal, and distinctive works at Studio Tabac. With in total 97 works, our small gallery space will once again transform itself into an artwork in itself. Salong # 3 features a diverse range of contemporary international photography – from intriguing collages in dreamy pastels, portraits of friends on the phone & friends in bathtubs, shockingly juicy fast food to a cavalcade of empty chairs, forgotten moments from past family vacations and snorting vehicles rushing through it all. Through tender and daring works, Salong # 3 celebrates the power of photography today. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR APPLICATIONS FOR SALONG # 3! This year we got in total 1197 works sent in from photographers and photo based artist from all over the world. We’re as always extremely happy and taken back in the huge interest in participating in our group show. Thank you, thank you thank you! Now we’ll start the jury work and will go through all the works sent in. This year we had an exceptional huge number of high quality applications, so this will for sure be a tricky one. Selected artist will be announced in the end of April. The exhibition opens on Saturday the 30th of May and stays up until mid June. Stay tuned <3

🔥2025🔥 Year 3 of Tabac! What a year! So many great people, wonderful talks and meetings. Thank you for all the exhibitors - @hannahmodigh @hilmahedin @isak.uitto @henrikwejfeldt10110 @kristian_kran @janne_riikonen @jhengstromwork We also had our third open call for our group show Salong # 2, with 71(!) artists, which is officially a new Tabac record! In between all this we worked in our dark room and in our studio and prepared our own exhibitions and publications :) Thank you everyone who visited us, exhibited and all the kind words, you guys are 🫶 Together we make this a place to call home. LAST WEEKEND! This coming weekend is your last chance to see JH Engström at Studio Tabac. We’re open both Sat & Sun 13-16! Come by, say hi and have a coffee with us <33 The exhibition (detail) at Studio Tabac marks the beginning of a transition in JH Engström’s work. A crossover from the physical, external archive of negatives and contact sheets he explored in ‘Dimma / Brume / Mist’, into his own personal, internal archive. The installation at Tabac is a small part of a much larger body of work Engström is experimenting with, involving materials beyond the photographic still image, and an expansion from beyond the book format and into more spatial presentation. In the book ‘Dimma / Brume / Mist’, published by @photo_void , JH Engström is looking back at 35 years of work. Not with the ambition to present a “best of,” or to resume previous work or books, but with the ambition to celebrate the movements, the reflections, the attempts, and the doing. Every image was roughly scanned directly from the contact sheets. The previously unpublished images are combined with texts written by Engström throughout the 672 page book. ‘Dimma/ Brume / Mist’ is Engström’s 23rd photographic monograph, and will have an official release on Saturday, November 22nd at Studio Tabac. Born in Karlstad in 1969, JH Engström is a Swedish photographer and filmmaker. His work has been exhibited widely and is in the collections of important museums. He was awarded the Leica Oskar Barnack Prize 2015, the Golden Letter (La Résidence) 2012, the Rencontre d’Arles photobook prize 2009 and shortlisted for the Deutsche Börse Photographic Prize in 2005, amongst others. Engström lives and works between Paris and Värmland, Sweden. Documentation by @theoelias
