DA approved!We just received approval from @cityofsydney for alterations and additions to a cottage terrace in Waterloo, and the construction of a new studio to the rear. Believe it or not, we fought exceptionally hard to justify this little metallic mansard structure! Nobbs Lane!We are about to pour slabs for our new laneway buildings that front Wimbo Park - a long time coming. These structures have developed from these early visuals and models, but retain a clear masonry grid, textured finish and aluminium fenestration that frames surrounding parkland. Bar in the Corner⁣A favourite spot atop our Riley Roof project, this design continues the roof's industrial rhythm via exposed fixings that float galvanised plate off balusters. Who needs Milan when you have this home in Adelaide?We were lucky to visit this Robert Dickson designed home in the leafy Adelaide suburb of Rostrevor. A beautiful example of regional, bushland modernism with block walls, strawboard ceilings and hardwood that flows from window frames through floors, walls and joinery. Low slung and modest in size (though later altered with an additional wing) the house was originally designed by Dickson for his brother Graham and sits remarkably preserved today with a state heritage listingHouse | @dicksononmarolaPhoto | @benjaminjayshand

Opera House ‘Doughnuts’For a recently completed project in Surry Hills, we sourced and salvaged elements from all over, with a favourite being an original acoustic reflector from the Sydney Opera House. Affectionately known as ‘doughnuts’, these were created by the concert hall’s acoustician Vilhelm Jordan and were famously ineffective sonically, designed to be tuned through adjustments in height and rendered in acrylic to allow light to pass through.We’ve suspended our doughnut here to pull light from above and accentuate the new and restored interior fabric of ‘Brackenbury & Austin’ which has just been shortlisted for a @duluxaus awardArchitect | @studioshandBuilder | @apmaustraliaPhoto | @traianos + max dupain
