Magnolia is having its breathtaking but oh-so-brief moment — like a thousand doves soaring into the sky.

Still up in the clouds. Thank you for all your kind messages and for everyone who came to the @gardenmuseum . The balloon was a very joyful thing to create. It has returned to the barn at home (see last pic), where I'm going to store it. Who knows where it will fly to – if you have a marvellous idea, let me know!

When you are designing flowers for an event, party or wedding, sometimes going all-in on one material can be very effective. These otherworldly alliums were for @maccapani.insta and @brownsfashion a few years ago. 🟣🟣🟣
They’ve just sprouted in the garden - not long now. 💜🟣

Meteorological Spring, we’re so back 🌸🌸🌸
If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to play with some of this fleeting magic. It’s much easier than you think. A simple shallow dish, a kenzan (flower frog) and a few simple branches are all you need.

Garlands are simpler to create than they look. You build them gradually, forming a long, snake-like trail of foliage with reel wire, adding piece by piece until it comes to life.
The more challenging part is stitching it to the tablecloth, but if you’re aiming to channel Regency-era England, it’s absolutely worth the effort.

Can you imagine being given a trove of treasures to play with?
@bonhams1793 invited me to curate rare and beautiful pieces from their upcoming Winter Classics – building miniature botanical worlds inspired by Dutch Masters. Shot expertly by the masterful @olliegtomlinson

Can you spot the tiny harlequin kicking a cranberry?
Collaborating with Bonhams for their Winter Classics campaign has felt like stepping into an old masters painting - composing still lives with petals, porcelain and dash of play.
@bonhams1793 invited me to choose objects from their six winter sales to create botanical themed tableaus, inspired by Dutch masters. All masterfully captured by the maestro @olliegtomlinson 📸 More on this to come.
We all rather fell in love with that asparagus tureen...
Thanks to @julia_valletta and @poppymicottis1 for bringing me onboard.
Thank you to @ollieadlamsaunders , @phoebeparish & @amelilo for wonderful set and floral helping hands - anc to Charlie at @prop_drop_ for helping paint up the backdrops in @farrowandball

How do you do flowers for a wedding in September?
Reposting this video from my little brother’s September wedding. We used branches and berries. Hazel and hawthorn made the base. You could use trees in pots as well, which could then be planted - lovely touch….
We had small strawberry plants potted on the tables with apples, flowers and moss. Very hobbitcore. One half expected Frodo Baggins to pop up! 🧙

A very proud day. We chatted about lupins, foxgloves, and Wiltshire - a county close to both our hearts. Her Majesty told me that she loved the balloon - and I loved her Majesty !

It’s here! My painted hot air balloon installation has just launched at the @gardenmuseum for British Flowers Week. The theme this year was Cecil Beaton’s Garden Party, so here is a hot air balloon as if lifting up from the water Meadow at Reddish house, his Wiltshire home.
I’ve painted each of the 19 panels of the balloon with a different plant from the Wiltshire / Dorset border where I grew up. The flame of the balloon is created with dock leaves and orange lupins. The nasturtiums sadly didn’t quite make the cut. One woman walked past and exclaimed at the sedge grass - but that’s a weed! she was BANG ON. A beautiful, beautiful weed.
Absolutely shattered, but delighted beyond measure.
Thank you to the brilliant Sean and Matt for creating the wooden structure for the balloon, and to @poppydrayton and @phoebeparish for helping bring it all too life, in such an enchanting way.
