If you love something or someone – let them know. ❤️ The wise old oak that stood watch over Ben and I for so many years, has fallen. It could have lived another 600 years, but the quiet stream beside it had slowly been eroding its roots. We hadn’t noticed, until it was too late. It’s strange, the depth of grief one can feel for a tree – for a piece of landscape that’s felt like home. I’m grateful I told it I loved it, every time I passed. And I believe it loved us back.

another year of growing slowly. 36 rings around this tree. life has more texture, more richness, shape and colour than it used to. I spent my birthday morning at the Tate Britain ogling at Singer-Sargent, Anderson, Grant and Gluck - so I thought I’d share them with you too. The first pics were taken on baking day last August with my lovely friend @garconjon

A lilac trick for you. This works for all woody stems. . . . . . #inthegarden #floristry #gardening #inthegardentoday #lilacflowers

Here are two flower foraging tips for you. The cow parsley has returned - my favourite time of year. White clouds billowing along the lanes and hedgerows. Of course when foraging make sure you have the land owners permission and take only a small fraction of what’s on offer. . . . . . . #inthegarden #foraging #inthegardentoday #natureheals #wholesome

April does what April wants. She’ll soak you to bone, And slap you with hail, then dazzle you with sun so glorious you immediately forgive her. . . . . . . #greatoutdoors #wholesome #hopecore #britishweather #goforawalk

The wood anemones are out - a marker of ancient woodland. They take their name from the Greek god of the wind, Anemos, who sent them forth to mark his arrival in spring. . . . . . #inthegarden #natureheals #inthewoods #inthegardentoday

Everything is moving so quickly, isn’t it? The Mt Fuji Cherry is already scattering her petals like confetti across the lawn. It feels like the party is over, but it’s only just beginning. A simple ball of chicken wire in a vase can go a very long way. Floral foam should be a thing of the past by now. 🐉 vest by @chateau.orlando #floristry #blossomtree #natureheals #gardening #inthegardentoday

If something matters to you, don’t find the time - make the time instead. For me, carving out a little space each morning has opened up a whole new world, and given me the momentum to finally take on a studio - somewhere to experiment and grow as an artist. I don’t quite know where it’s heading yet. I have said I’d like to have a show by the end of the year… so please hold me to that. . . . . . #hopecore #careerchange #florist #artistatwork #painteveryday

Happy Spring Equinox. The irises are once again poking their green heads out of the ground. Everything in motion. It’s a moment of perfect balance for us all. Our day as long as our night. The word “equinox” comes from Latin, where equi means “equal” and nox means “night”. I always circle back to this drawing on this day, drawn at a moment of spring in my own life where I had just rediscovered my pencils. Hope you’re enjoying this glorious weather, at long last. . . #springequinox

This is your sign to sow some seeds 🌱🌱 if you don’t have much sunlight or windowsill space, then you can get a small, inexpensive grow light. March is the perfect time for things like cosmos, nasturtiums, cornflowers etc. These little guys are sitting on my desk – I can’t stop staring as they make their way up, out of the soil. There is nothing more rewarding than waking up in the morning to see they’ve had a growth spurt. Thanks @henrykimber for grow light inspo and @rorythebentley for your delicious jumper . . . . #inthegarden #gardening #wholesome
