During the residency @defabriekedhv we have worked together with invited artists on their Spec-Suits. This third post is highlighting the suit created by @studiooscarpeters .

Beeldend kunstenaar Oscar Peters verbleef de afgelopen twee maanden als Artist in Residence bij GinDS. Deze periode bood hem de kans om na twintig jaar eindelijk weer te gaan schilderen. Wat begon als een voorzichtig experiment met olieverf in de winter van vorig jaar, groeide tijdens zijn verblijf uit tot een inspirerend experiment.
De uitgestrekte luchten rond GinDS nodigden uit tot nieuwe ontdekkingen in kleur en vorm. Naar voorbeeld van de Hollandsche meesters heeft Oscar geprobeerd deze luchtlandschappen in olieverf te vangen — een eerste verkenning van het medium met verrassende resultaten.
Naast de luchtstudies toont de expositie ook een aantal vlaggen, twee houten lijsten en een schaalmodel voor een toekomstige tentoonstelling.

We stellen met plezier onze nieuwe Artist in Residence aan je voor: Oscar Peters! Oscar Peters (1981) maakt voornamelijk grote kinetische sculpturen. Hij heeft een BA in Beeldende Kunst van de Gerrit Rietveld Academie en een Master of Fine Art van Carnegie Mellon University. Op dit moment onderzoekt hij met humor en een flinke dosis zelfspot grotere thema’s zoals verlies, rouw, en woede. Peters is gefascineerd door gesimuleerd geweld. De drang naar vernietiging is op een rare obscene manier deel van de mens, wij bezitten een morbide verlangen naar geweld, jegens de ander, te kijken. Wie kijkt er nu niet af en toe een horror film?
Angstaanjagend en tegelijkertijd buitengewoon veilig; deze paradox is precies dat wat Peters het meest interesseert. Mensen zijn de enige diersoort die doelbewust het gevaar opzoekt. We gespen onszelf aan een achtbaan om doodsangsten uit te staan. Wij kicken op het gevoel van het randje van de afgrond. Het noodlot tarten speelt een grote rol in zijn praktijk. Het ondeugende, oncomfortabele, puntje van je stoel gevoel - dat is wat Peters wil dat kunst is.
De komende twee maanden werkt Oscar bij GinDS in de Batterij aan den Sloterweg 🐑🎨

INDUSTRY sheds light on the entire complex of the former main workshops of the BVG and links the history of the Gesundbrunnen district in the 20th century with current discussions on deindustrialization and the cultural industry. A new work by Karo Akpokiere and a large-scale kinetic piece by Oscar Peters revisit forgotten aspects of Wedding’s history and the former
“Boulevard Badstrasse” The exhibition also provides a platform for artistic interventions by locally based and internationally networked artists.
