Motorsport venues are typically designed with intensity in mind. You feel it the moment you arrive — the scale, the gloss, the sense that speed is the only thing that matters here. Australian Motorsport Park starts differently. You come in through the landscape first. Rolling hills, open sky, a building that sits quietly against the horizon. The track reveals itself later, almost as an afterthought — except it isn’t. Studio Nine designed it as a private club, not a facility — part of a wider rethinking of what motorsport destinations can actually be when hospitality and everyday life are built into the idea from the start. That one distinction changed how CUUB Studio team thought about every image. We kept the light cinematic and unhurried. Concrete, stone, timber — all of it shown with the texture it actually has, not the texture a visual usually gives it. The atmosphere had to hold two things at once: the stillness of the place and the reason people come. Stillness and speed, in the same frame. A connected lifestyle community grounded in place, wellbeing and shared experience — Set within the landscape of South Australia’s renowned Clare Valley, ‘Seasons at Clare’ is a proposed retirement lifestyle village that brings together community, wellness, and regional identity in a carefully considered master planned environment. The masterplan draws on the character of the Clare Valley, embedding local identity into the design. A wine barrel-inspired entry sequence establishes a strong sense of arrival, referencing the region’s viticultural heritage while guiding residents and visitors into a communal outdoor space. This gesture reinforces the project’s broader ambition, to ground the development in its regional context while shaping a connected and community-focused way of living. Designed by S9 Project Team — Justin Cucchiarelli, Kym Wiseman, Olivier Martin, Zak Papas & Taylor Cunningham

Conceived as the first facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere, the Australian Motorsport Park is envisioned as a next-generation performance destination. At its centre, a linear building spans the pit lane, integrating garages, exhibition areas and hospitality spaces. Upper levels accommodate restaurants, terraces and viewing platforms, while additional wellness facilities support use beyond race days. Designed by Studio Nine Architects, the project expands traditional motorsport infrastructure into a broader cultural and lifestyle destination — supporting performance, tourism, corporate events and everyday public life year-round. Associate Director Benjamin Pitman's essay 'Traces' has featured on the @institute_architects_aus , exploring the relationship between architecture, memory and the evolving identity of the city of Adelaide. The essay positions architecture not only as a physical outcome, but as a cultural act, one that influences how places are remembered, experienced and understood over time. It raises questions around what is preserved, what is lost, and how new interventions can meaningfully contribute to the ongoing narrative of a city. Ben’s contribution reflects a broader commitment within the practice to engage with ideas beyond project delivery, contributing to industry discourse and exploring the deeper impact of design on people and place. Read the full essay via the link in our bio Image credit – Rosina Street, Adelaide CBD by Jordan Chamary

A first look at our design for a new speculative Motorsport Park positioning Australia at the forefront of high-performance automotive culture — The proposal explores how a contemporary motorsport venue could function not only as a racing circuit, but as a year-round cultural and lifestyle destination. The design rethinks the traditional relationship between building and circuit, embedding architecture directly within the mechanics of racing. Developed as a conceptual architectural investigation only, the Australian Motorsport Park explores how motorsport infrastructure could evolve into a broader cultural and lifestyle destination — supporting driving performance, tourism, corporate events and everyday public life throughout the year. More to come Designed by S9 Project Team — Andrew Steele, Benjamin Pitman, Nigel Howden & Aaron Schintler Render — @cuubstudio

Construction has now commenced on the @wchfoundation new Family Health & Wellbeing Hub in Elizabeth Vale — Located adjacent to Lyell McEwin Hospital, the facility has been conceived as a warm, community-focused alternative to traditional healthcare environments, integrating soft architectural forms, earthy tones, and extensive landscaping to create a calming, inclusive place for families. Internally, the building transitions from open and communal spaces to more private areas of retreat, balancing visibility with discretion. This layered spatial approach responds to the complex needs of families, carers, and health professionals, supporting care through clarity, flexibility, and human-scaled design. Set to open in mid-2027, the Family Health and Wellbeing Hub will form a key component of the Playford Health and Wellbeing Precinct, delivering enduring social value through purposeful and inclusive design. Designed by S9 Project Team — Andrew Steele, John Galluccio, Benjamin Pitman, Jess Alderslade, Melinda De Cianni & Franz Hein Client — @wchfoundation Project Managemet — @axiospm Builder — @mossopconstructionsinteriors Renders — @cuubstudio @cityofplayford@northernadelaidehealth@flindersuniversity

We congratulate Managing Director Andrew Steele, Associate Director Benjamin Pitman, & Principal Nigel Howden who have all been selected on this year’s Office for Design and Architecture SA Design Review Panel. Aiming to improve the quality of the built form in South Australia, the panel is a pre-lodgement design review service for significant projects, bringing together independent built environment experts to provide formal, constructive advice aligned with South Australia’s Principles of Good Design. It supports proponents in refining proposals early in the planning process and enables informed, design-led decision-making, without redesigning the project. Andrew, Ben & Nigel are all key members of our studio’s housing sector, each bringing award winning experience and strong architectural leadership to the panel across residential and commercial design. We look forward to seeing each of them contribute their skills and expertise to the State Design Review Panel, continuing our shared commitment of designing a better future for people, place and planet.

An exciting new chapter for 214–216 Rundle Street — This adaptive reuse project transforms a vacant heritage building into a light-filled urban home, complete with a ground-floor tenancy. Retaining and restoring the façade, reinstating sash windows, and introducing a glazed courtyard, the design unlocks space, light, and longevity. The @cityofadelaide Adaptive Reuse City Housing Initiative (ARCHI) actively supports projects of this nature, championing the transformation of underutilised buildings into much-needed homes that contribute to a more sustainable and liveable city. Designed by S9 Project Team — Justin Cucchiarelli, Andrew Steele & Taylor Cunningham
