📍Trafalgar Square, 26th July.
It marked the grand finale of Jeremy Deller’s The Triumph of Art, celebrating 200 years of the National Gallery. The square came alive with vibrant processions, brass bands, folk dancers, and giant puppets- bringing together commissions from partner institutions across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland for an unforgettable day of public art. 🎭
Our modular stage boxes formed the main platform for the handbuilt Gorsedd structure, created by @studioclaash and the brilliant volunteers at @centreforalternativetechnology
Lightweight, flatpack and rapidly demountable. Exactly what a pop up in the heart of London needs This is what our borrow a box Library is all about: sharing resources so communities can build temporary spaces to gather, create and celebrate together. 💛

It's been a month since we unveiled our structure in Trafalgar Square. Before we brought Gorsedd to London we first tested the raising process at the @centreforalternativetechnology
Here's some photos from July, in a glorious carpark in mid Wales.
Gorsedd being raised by hand in Trafalgar Square as part of @nationalgallery bicentenary - curated by @jeremydeller #triumphofart
Swipe to see the frame being raised by many hands! HUGE thanks to those who volunteered with us last weekend.
The assembly method is a feat of collective action. Fossil fuels have led us to consign many such techniques to history - but their ability to bring people together should not be forgotten in the face of climate emergency.
Big thanks also to @momentumstructuralengineers - for their support throughout / @ubuild - for hired staging / @_recollective_ - for reclaimed sheet materials.
Come and join us in Trafalgar Square 11am-4pm on Saturday 26th July where our architectural installation ‘Gorsedd’ will be part of The Triumph of Art!
Curated by @jeremydeller the event celebrates the bicentenary of the @nationalgallery and promises to be an interesting afternoon of spectacle. See you there!
