Step inside the Brooklyn home of interior designer Jason Chen (@studiochen.co ) and Walker Carpenter, where a 1917 pre-war layout, park views, and serious natural light set the stage for a space built over time. From a shared 300-square-foot starter apartment to shelves engineered around original molding, every room is a true merge of two lives: books, art, color, and pieces with real history.

Center Stage, 1991
A personal favorite and continuous source of inspiration. Maggie Cheung at her most elegant in this biopic directed by Stanley Kwan. I’m struck by the intimate, tight framing of each scene and how abundantly black is used—I love its graphic quality. It’s present in the 1930s Shanghai architecture of Ruan Lingyu’s villa and in the stunning gestural floral and abstract motifs of the wallcoverings and qipao prints. A stunning balance of ‘90s Hong Kong glamour and ‘30s Shanghai nostalgia.
