The stair at our Queens Park project is a special thing … at a very special project.
The challenge was to design three very different flights; basement to ground, ground to first, and first to loft, in ways that reflect the levels they connect but to simultaneously establish a common language (material, aesthetic, detail) so they read as one. Together and apart.
Here are a few shots of the basement flight. Clad entirely in oak - you walk down ‘into’ the stair - surrounded and protected by the material. Compressed, before being released on to the levels above and below.

#SwissCottageHouse by @studiocarver is a major refurbishment and reconfiguration of a mid-century terraced property.
This vibrant family home includes a full basement with sunken patio and a new second floor. Despite adding two levels, the home remains flooded with natural light, cascading through large openings and voids in the floorplate, down to the basement.
A folded metal stair and playful climbing wall enhance these light-filled volumes, creating a bright, open and welcoming space.

The roof and structure at our Hampstead projects sails beyond the glazing below - creating a framed and covered ‘terrace’ extending out from the rooms within. A frameless glazed corner further opens the room to the garden.
