Residence 1973, as seen @vogueliving by us @studio_ab___
Designing your own home is something else. It tests you, pushes you, and at times completely drains you… but then it gives back in ways nothing else can. The setbacks, the constant decision making, the moments where you question everything, followed by those small wins that pull you forward again.
And then you arrive at this point.
Where you can step back, take it all in, and see the whole story come together.
What started as an idea, slowly taking shape, evolving, shifting, until it became something I’m proud to share.
With Residence 1973, it was always about honouring what was already there. Built in the 70s, we wanted to lean into its character and let that guide every decision. You’ll see it in the materials, the palette, and the details that tie everything together.
Saskia, thank you for your support and belief in this project.
Rebecca, the way you articulated the project went far beyond anything I could have said myself. You captured it with such clarity and care, and truly honoured the intent behind it. I’m so grateful.
And to Kryssia of @hunting_utopia and @rubinutama , thank you for capturing our home so beautifully.
Our home is grounded in where we came from, our childhood and the people we are evolving into today.

Now that I’ve had a moment to let it sink in, I can put it all into words.
Last year I was shortlisted for ADR’s 30 Under 30 and when I didn’t make the final list, it truly stung. I questioned whether I should put myself out there again, another year in a row. Rejection can feel so loud.
I kept going back and forth with my self and just before entries closed, I chose to give it another crack.
To now be named in the final 30 feels incredibly special. After last year’s disappointment, this moment feels all the more special.
I’m so grateful to ADR for creating space to celebrate emerging Australian talent, and honoured to stand alongside such an inspiring cohort of designers, makers and architects. Thank you to the judges & mentors for recognising the intention and heart behind my work.
I’m looking forward to learning, connecting and continuing to grow, both creatively and in business. I am truly grateful for this moment.

This part didn’t make it into Vogue.
The early mornings, the late nights, the decisions, the re-decisions… the physical work, the problem solving, the constant back and forth to get all the details perfect!
And behind all of it, is my amazing fiancé Chris.
Thank you for making things I’d never dared to dream come true.
For the endless hours of physical work, finding our home, making it ours, the demo (half the things you did scared me, the other half I tried to help with only to realise you make it look far easier than it is), the gardening, installing all the lights, adding more power points and more dimmers every single time I asked! @iotaelectrical for all your electrical needs ;)
For patiently sitting through the thousands of decisions (and re-decisions), and helping me hunt down the rarest vintage pieces.
How lucky am I to have a fiancé with such a natural eye for design, someone who constantly motivates me to be the best version of myself.
Our home & Studio ab, wouldn’t exist without you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Our home has just been featured in Vogue.
Somebody pinch me.
Typing this feels so surreal. What started as our little world, mine and my fiancé Chris’, has somehow made its way onto a platform I’ve admired with aspirational eyes since I was a little girl. Never did I even dare to dream I’d one day be a contributing designer.
Having a small business, all my projects are incredibly special to me. But this isn’t just a project, it’s my home. The place we’ve poured ourselves into; emotionally, mentally, physically, and of course financially.
We’ve poured our hearts into this home. Early mornings, late nights, changing our minds a hundred times, “debating” every detail… slowly shaping it into something that feels so us.
To have it recognised in this way is something I truly never imagined, and I’m feeling equal parts proud, grateful, and slightly in disbelief.
Anyone who’s gone through a renovation knows it takes a village, there are a lot of thank yous in order.
Firstly, to my fiancé Chris… where do I even begin! Look at what we’ve created together!
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the process, in big ways and small.
We would not be here without the incredible support of our families. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
There’s so much more to share on the design and the story behind it. You can read more in the article, with more to come here soon.
Click the link in bio to read the full feature (still feels surreal to say).
