My background is and always has been in sewing. Ever since I walked into the a level textiles department and fell in love with the texture I knew this was my craft. Thereās something truly wonderful about creating a 3D form from flat pieces. Iām here to help you get the gasp āyou made that??ā and pro finish you strive for.
.
My career took me to a degree at london college of fashion and then over 20 years helping to create many iconic creatures and costumes. (Youāve probably seen my work before?). A few of the ones people get excited about include Iggle Piggle from In The Night garden, Batman from Batman Begins (and Justice League) and Chewbacca from Star Wars.
.
Now a days though I teach others how to sew in 3D through the amazing (warning; addictive!!) form of bag making.

The March Bag Makers box was one of the most popular ones! We went for a more neutral vibe with this - a classic colour way but with a modern twist. And Iām so pleased to tell you that these items have now dropped into the shop! You can grab a full box with all the goodies or pick and choose.
But! As with all the box items they are limited stock and when they go they go.
The blue floral from the January box is almost gone now despite ordering extra š
Special thanks as always to our featured designers included in this box:
@oklaroots and @awesomesewpatterns
What do you think of this box?
Do you have a May box on its way? It should arrive very soon if it hasnāt already and if youāre curious you can watch the unboxing just dropped on YouTube (search for studio 7t7 or grab the link on my profile).

ā”ļø Sometimes you need a grab and go bag. A bag that will fit all the things but isnāt too big. The No Waste Tote is so perfect for this and the bag I reach for time and again.
Itās a beginner friendly pattern that has side pockets, inside pockets and an outside zipper pocket. I have also hacked this one to have a zipper overlay and a top zipper closure - both we did as classes inside the 7t7 club.
We are full into competition season for the girls so Iām swapping the track for the pool for the gym! Logistics season š swipe to see my not so subtle youngestā request for food while we wait at the Surrey Champs š also I didnāt say āIām not made of moneyā I said not right now at 9am š
This pattern comes together fast and with the video tutorial, full templates and colour step by step photos youāre never alone in the process. Plus our Facebook group is full of people who have made the studio 7t7 bags so you can ask if you get stuck.
I used black cork together with quilting cotton for the outer and quilting cotton for the lining. Pro tip: This is a great way to lessen the bulk on seams when bag making!
Have you given this one a go yet? I love that itās only 1/2m outer fabric and 3/4m lining. No need to guessing and no scraps at the end š
Challenge people- watch this space for a cheeky discount! Not in the challenge? Comment challenge below for all the information via dm. š

#memademay but letās be honest I wonāt keep it up and this could be the only post? Who knows. Also a day late š but as Iām away with beautiful weather and a beautiful backdrop I thought Iād take the moment to record my latest me made wardrobe item.
Shirt: Ruby shirt from @sewconfident from a previous sub box as a whole kit.
I made a few changes. I realised one thing I loved about it was the short sleeve with the elastic hem. I love small details. But then when I cut it out I cut the long sleeve version so then chopped them down mid sew. These together with the scalloped collar drew my eye. I decided to use my studio 7t7 rainbow thread for the top stitching to add a little extra.
For me I quickly realised that the dropped shoulders swamped me. Being small in height and larger on the bottom in proportion to the top I need to make sure I have more fitted garments for top. So I took in the arm hole a lot to create a more fitted shirt. I wasnāt planning on wearing this tied up but it felt right for styling with the trousers. I didnāt quite change the pattern correctly as I was in the rush but it still works!
Trousers: #saguaroset from @fridaypatterncompany these are my absolute favourite for the summer. Made in a light viscose from @minervadotcom I canāt believe I havenāt made more of these trousers - they are definitely to be added to the list.
Iām having a lovely break away with my brother and dad. Canāt believe I went viral on threads about surprising him š head over and take a look if youāre on there.
You had me at free pattern š¤

This could be a game changer for learning to sew bags, and itās not something Iāve seen done before.
I was preparing for the skills builder class recently and then it hit me⦠why donāt we combine the different techniques and skills building classes into one bag? Like an embroidery sampler but for bag making!
Combined with the other 7t7 club elements itās designed to help you level up your bag making and really get you going on your bag learning journey.
Sound good? Comment club below and Iāll send you the info so you can join us in the premier bag making community. Hereās what a club member recently said about the first class:
āIt Turned out to be easier/more intuitive than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed seeing it shape up, and have that smug mission accomplished feeling - even though itās not a finished project yetā
